who did those mounts?

those are what I'm looking at having done.

the taxidermist that did my last one (he went out of business) did a good job but used a smaller form and shrunk my deers neck considerably.

Thanks for making this thread, I was going to make the exact thread today as I'm headed out in two weeks for my axis hunt and would love to see as many examples as possible.

I have not seen very many habitat type mounts with Axis, not sure why. I have done a lot of habitat stuff with my whitetails but for my first Axis I simply did a wall pedestal mount. My next Axis will be a full blown pedestal mount with habitat.

When I get my desktop computer back I will check and see if I have any pics of a free-standing pedestal mount axis on a wooden base. I also have a wall pedestal mount axis as well.

I don't like the full head up mounts on axis in most cases because they have horns that go back. When they are full head up the horns are in a back position. A slight head down makes the horns stand up taller in my opinion.

With that said the ones posted here have are very nice and have some nice spreads so they look great the way they are.

The pre-orbital glands on the first few mounts look strange. Gaharris, yours looks perfect.

You should take a better loko at a mature axis buck, they have those and look like the top more than his but great mounts non the less.

Going after another one June 4th and if I connect....I will definitely go with a pedestal mount this time. I didn't leave enough hide when I caped the last one out.

Here's another idea for your Axis. Highland Lakes in Marble Falls mounted this one.

Thanks, I'm at Double Arrow Bow Hunting as I type, looking for a better buck! Curtis and I stalked up on a group down in the creek bottom, got within 50 yards of 2 that are definitely better, but I never got a shot. Back at it again in the morning!

Love this one. This isn't my buck, but mine will be mounted this way.
