Looking at camo wrapping my entire truck. Wondering if anyone here has done it and your recommendations. Wondering how it will hold up to scratches & wondering how prone it would be to trapping moisture under it and causing rust. Please advise, thanks....

Is this a ranch truck only?

The DB factor on wrapped trucks is high IMO...but this is your truck. As far as rust I would not worry...there should not be any moisture trapped. Scratches could be an issue but it's camo...so it would only add character.

This is my hunting truck but drive it on the highway a lot. Adding accessories to it etc. Guessing I know what you're calling the DB factor..... trout I like the looks of the wrap better than a camo paint job.

Was thinking about either wrapping my truck Or having the whole thing powder coated/line-x'd

My truck just collects too many scratches and it's impossible for it to stay clean

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

The powder coat/line X/Rhino line etc is pretty sweet I think. I'm just not a big fan of wrapped vehicles...it the same concept to me as people who drive convertibles....it just screams that you need attention. That's why it works well when it's for advertising purposes.

The ones I have seen have had the colors fade quicky. They will hold up ok in the brush but with age they can be prone to tears. When I see one I know for sure it is a hunter, not a DB. That happens only after they open their mouth. grin

Fading is due to sun exposure I would guess. If you park your truck in a shaded or garaged area I would think the color would hold up a lot better. Also I'd guess if you buy a higher quality product..that might help as well.

Just don't run glasspacks or some other rowdy exhaust AND camo wrap it. I never understood that. Hidden but heard - go figure.

IMO, if it is a dedicated hunting rig why worry about what's underneath? Brush scratches, dents, and dings are badges of honor to a hunting vehicle. Rhinoline/Line-x the whole thing in OD Green if money is no object.

Sorry bro...but actually yeah when you ask about something in an online forum it's because you want replys...so expect various opinions. Some you won't agree with....just know that going in and it might help you from being butt hurt in the future.

LOL, I'm not butt hurt pal. I was looking to see if anyone had experience with truck wraps. Was looking for reccomendations from someone who has experience with them. We all have our opinions about things, I normally don't voice my opinions about things unless asked, some of you do. No worries, carry on.....

So you're saying I look like a DB ? boxing I think you're just jealous that your wife won't give you enough money to have your Hyundai wrapped roflmao

In answer to some of your questions; they hold up very well against scratches I drive mine through the mesquite trees all the time and it holds up well. It will fade over time but if they use a good UV laminate on the top it should easily last 5-7 years. When it does start to fade you can peal it off and the factory paint underneath will be in good shape.
The problem with going to a spray on liner is 3 fold. Fist they are not smooth and although you wouldn't think it that adds a ton of drag to your vehicle which decreases your fuel mileage. Second they add a bunch of weight to the vehicle which also effects fuel mileage and stability in turns. Third once it is sprayed it is sprayed if you decided to sell the vehicle you can't peel it off and have the factory paint.

You guys are getting fired up. Sorry...was just giving an honest opinion. To me it's like I said above...it screams you need attention...."hey everyone I'm a hunter...I'm such a hardcore hunter, by god, my truck is camoed!!!". On top of that it serves no use for for actual hunting and to me it's a giant waste of money. Then again maybe no matter what you've got to strut.

If you are an outfitter...then there it does serve to help advertise and it makes sense that you would want to draw attention in order to get business...at least with the expense there you can write it off against income...but if you are just some dude then yeah I stand by my statements. I'm just trying to help you out skinner...it seems you have learned something even though it kind of hurt your feelings in the process.

My dad did his hunting rig, a Toyota truck. The trucks paint had faded bad, and we wanted to make it a mobile stand. It has held up well for five years.

Just FYI - I'm looking at camoing my hunting truck because:

1) I often hunt pigs and varmints out of my truck, I have an actual use for the camo - it will serve a real life purpose.
2) I am part of a feral hog removal business and we do advertise our services on our vehicles. We offer pig removal, guided hunts etc, and mobile advertisement along with word of mouth has landed us pig removal contracts on well over 100,000 acres of different properties and numerous hunts.

I agree, if you don't have a use for the camo but camo your truck anyway it's kinda silly & maybe that person is wanting attention....kinda like the guys that have great big stacks coming out of the bed of their 1/2 ton trucks...but that person is not me LOL. I didn't get butt hurt, but did frown on the DB remark a little bit....anyway back

That's a sharp looking rig right there! I've camo painted before, but am considering the wrap this time....

That's cool skinner...it totally makes sense for you then. So removal as in trapping or shooting....or both? Seems like shooting them would be a lot easier and based on your sig pics it looks like you do a fair amount of shooting.

So I guess you don't use camo on your deer blinds, rifle/bow, binos, or wear camo clothing either since they all scream for attention? Many folks do hunt from their vehicles in many areas of the state.

No problem man! We catch with dogs/knife, traps, snares, and night vision rifle hunts. We kill them just about any way we can grin Whatever it takes to keep the pressure on them year round. Yes shooting is easier and I love it, but we do a lot of doggin' too. In the Summer time I don't enjoy the running part so much, I'd rather hunt out of my truck or electric buggy. Running's good for you though LOL, I guess.
