I grew up using my great gandmother's 250-3000 Savage and it was a great a gun. I got a Remington 700 BDL .270 a few years back and love it as well. I just recently recived a 700 CDL 257 Weatherby Mag and I plan on using it this year.
Anything from a .243 to a 300 mag will work just fine.

different gun for different hunting scenarios
a .25-06,7mm-08,.270's are great all around rifles though
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Good to go for what ever needs shooting. This has been my 'go to' rig for many years as well. I have too many others and all work fine, but if I was forced to keep only one it would be this one as we have made a many a mile/hunt and bagged a load of animals together. An old standard for a reason! Second would be my 700 mountain in 7mm-08 with same scope, deadly, accurate and light. All the kids took their first with it and I have stacked up plenty with it as well.

I've been hunting WT for over 50 years, and have shot just about everything out there.IMO there's lots of overkill as far as what's necessary for a WT. That being said, it comes down to what your comfortable with and what you have confidence in shooting.Dead is dead.
For me, I've found the .257 Weatherby Magnum with a 115 grain ballistic tip is unbeatable for what I want. An all around caliber, super accurate,and very little recoil. The downside is a box of shells, if you don't reload your own, will set you back $60.00.

257 ack imp, 100 gr gameking
22-6 ack imp, 75 gr sirocco
243 ack imp, 80 gr gmx
280 ack imp if I think I'm gonna need a little extra and imho the 280 ai should be considered the best all around caliber for any of the deer species.
A lot depends where I hunt and weather. I hate trimming necks if you can't tell!!!

What? You waiting for someone to start arguing about caliber for deer? You be velly smart person!  Always does doesn't it? Yep, I've been waiting for someone to tell me that my 45-70 is overkill on deer, and that I am crazy for using it on deer.

What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe.

I personally like the .308. Use caution when using it on small game that you plan to have mounted, like bobcats, though.

Ar-15, kimber montana .243, remington heavy barrel.308(will be wearing a yhm suppressor 5.25 months into wait :), or may break out my newely acquired tikka .300 win mag if i really want to blow some holes in some animals!

Thank you all for the different info on all the guns that everyone uses. I was not trying to start anything. Just wanted to see what guns people like to use. I didn't expect everyone to use the same gun that's why I asked. Thanks to everyone who did
