Would you think it rediculous to get a cape and mount them?

I'd mount them if I shot the deer the next year.

If it was a great buck heck yea I would. Just because you get a big set of horns mounted it doesn't mean you have to claim it as yours. Just my .02. Baker

Sort of like imposing a photo your face on someone else's body. Or having a large trophy made with your name as the winner to try and impress others. Your old leather M/C jacket with "colors" on it hanging in your den. Fake war medals displayed in your office??

I'd do it in a heartbeat...to honor the deer. Best part is you have the antlers to admire, knowing the buck is still out there doing his thing.

its simply preserving and displaying an exceptional set of antlers from your property in another manner.

Found a pair of mule deer sheds in New Mexico one year while bow hunting and had the horns mounted on a plaque by a taxidermist. Neat reminder of the trip.

Catch and release. I have seen a few sheds mounted from WT's. Some were done since the deer was never killed or seen again sometimes. I have also seen sheds mounted on a wall plague when the buck was still alive.

And I see nothing wrong with mounting em as long as you don't claim em as one of your kills, which doesn't sound like an issue..

Yes I would mount them, but probably an antler mount only, not a shoulder mount.

I have done so in the past, typical 12, heavy and taped 172" when killed the following year. I had a deal going with a Taxi as I usually brought him 6-8 capes per season in the 22"-24" range so I used one and he mounted it as a favor.

Never claimed anything other than sheds and back then 170's bucks were dern few.

I'm kinda mixed. I wouldn't do it but don't see the big deal if you did. I would arrange them in the habitat on another mount. Bobcat or pedestal white tail

With a really special set of antlers, absolutely!

I would if I owned a business like a sporting goods store, etc...!!!

Why not just tie them together w/ a leather tether/cord and hang them from a wall.... simple display and you can furnish the story.

Not something I would do, but I can see why someone would.

I would use the Shed Connector mounting brackets to mount matched pairs if I was lucky to find matched sets. They just look more lifelike when mounted/displayed with a spread.
Sometimes you could find both sets in the same year.


Sometimes you find them a year or more apart. You can still put them together.

I just found the best shed of my life and am hoping to find the other side. If I do, I'm mounting it.

I agree stxranchman, it really brings those awesome sheds to life. What a waste to have them just lying around.
