$50 was to change the combo on a manual dial safe. NOT to help if you are locked out of a digital one. Had the combo changed on a safe a couple years ago. ITs easy to change the combo on a dial if you have it open. Took him about 5 minutes.

Winchester said the keypad is fine, they think the locking mechanism is in a bind. They recommended calling a locksmith to come drill a hole in it and unlock it! Total BS!

Wow! Just wow. If I were you, i'd call them back and recommend they send a locksmith over on there dime.

As it is now, you have an 800 dollar paper weight. So what happens after the locksmith drills it? Do you have a permenant hole in your safe?

Winchester said the locksmith will fix the hole, not real sure about that one. I guess I'm gonna bite the bullet and spend a couple hundred on this POS.

Winchester needs to pick up the tab for the locksmith. We had this happen on a Liberty safe, non digital. After numerous calls about the pos tumbler that was installed on this safe, they finally agreed to pay.

Took the locksmith 3 + hours to get into it. Pretty cool to watch.

They are insinuating that I have something inside of it jamming it up. The locking mechanism is covered up by the inside door panel, and I'm pretty sure I don't just throw stuff in my safe if you know what I mean.

I have a Winchester and need to change the battery.
This thread isn't making me feel too confident about doing it.

I guess I'm gonna wheel it out to the yard, lay it on its back and beat it with a rubber mallet before I call the locksmith out.

What all of you fellows have written was why I purchased a Canon years past..and they said if it broke or there was a fire they would come and fix it free..that was over 10 yrs. ago..My buddy and I built a safe for his garage from 1/2in plate and used layers of sheet rock to insulate and fireproof...We fixed a covered comercial lock that you can only open w/a combination and it would take a long time to gain ent. w/a torch..I think it
costs us about $500 and took a couple of wks and lots of beer to build..The safe holds about 60 long guns..and who knows how much
more ..pistols, ect..Anyway, it's much more sturdy than 10 ga steel...DD

Don't bother. I had to enter my code a million times b4 the electric lock would disengage to open the safe. if anyone needs a paper weight...call me.
im saying enter the code every day for a couple weeks, when it opens, take all yer stuff out...DO NOT LOCK IT AGAIN THINKING IT IS UNJAMMED!!!!!!
THROW THE SAFE THROUGH THE WINDOW AT THE PLACE YOU BOUGHT IT AT!!!!! THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE!!
DO NOT BUY AN ELECTRIC SAFE

Just curious, does anyone know how the actual locking mechanism works? I'm guessing there is something that keeps the crank from moving, and that something is actuated by the signal from the keypad? Is it possible maybe there's a solenoid in there that's gone bad?

cut the top off with a sawsall to get your stuff out then have it welded back. Then sell it as "scratch and dent" or just recycle it as scrap metal.

I had a biometric safe I kept my guns in. Used it for years. Then one day my 8 year old saw me open it and he asked if he could try. I said "sure" knowing it wouldn't open for him. He put his finger on the scanner and to my horror it opened right up.

Then I had my 5 year old and 3 year old try it too, and it opened for each of them. I was horrified. All those years I thought it was safe.

I swore that day I would never buy an electrical safe again.

Buy a USA made Cannon Safe next time. Mine has a lifetime
in-home no BS warranty. They even delivered it AND set it up
in my house C.O.D.

I hate my dial safe because it takes too long to gain entry. After reading this I may fall back in love with it.

most electronic entry safes have a fallback 2nd (and different) key in the event the keypad fails.

all the key does is lock the safe...again..
the key does not override the electric locking devise...on my old one anyways.
