I don't mind it tho, I don't mind getting up at 4 a.m. It's a time for me to get away from things and just be in the peaceful outdoors. Do y'all usually eat your kill?

Yep duck hunting is more addicting than any drug. @quintcarney...it's not a joke, I laughed it off too. Very enjoyable but very invasive on the day to day life you are leaving. Welcome to the money pit. It couldn't be that bad tho. I don't mind getting up that early or any of that. I like the outdoors

Academy is your friend...especially for beginners.
Waterproof jacket
Waders
Decoys
Duck Call
Shotgun and ammo
You can get it all at academy and won't pay an arm and a leg.

Ive been at it for 6 years now, gone through a kayak and on my second duck boat now, working on getting my third. Its not a joke, you will go broke.
My first year I bought waders and a waterproof shell at academy. Had misc gloves and stuff from deer hunting I used. The key is layers.
I just retired those waders and yes Im too cheap and should have bought a new pair 3 years ago, but they got the job done.
Since my first season, Ive only bought 2 more jackets (Drake), 2 more masks (UA), A handful of double reed calls and 1 whistle (brand is up to your bank), probably 5 pairs of gloves (they all suck), 3 shotguns (Benelli), 3 dozen decoys (GHG), probably 10 spotlights (they all suck), maybe only two dozen misc lights, and a blind bag (drake).
Now if you wanna talk about boats, just make friends with someone that has one and buy them gas. Much easier that way.

start buying a box or two of shells every time you go to the store saves you money when they jack the prices up or none are on the shelf
If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

drake water fowl jacket by far, I have used game winner the thick waders I love them! in 20 degrees i can wear a pair of short and thin socks and be fine. just make sure you have warm gloves, and a good tobogan or face mask. I invested this year in a whole lot of head and hand gear to be warmer this year!
