I also have a set of the "new tread" MTR's on my Rubicon. They are a little noisy on the highway but not too bad. They are great on dirt, rocks and general off roading. The sidewalls are very tough. They are not too good in mud. KM2's are better. (A buddy has them on his jeep). Reason they arent so hot in mud is theyload up and take a while to clear the cleats. I dont regret getting them. Next set will probably be a little more pavement friendly. Though I off road as much as I can, it is my dailydriver and its all a compromise.

Dad put a set of dura tracs on his '04 d-max
They have been great so far and seem to be pretty mesquite resistant.
I don't know what yal do to tires, I guess I try to drive around rather than over stuff, but generaly get 60k or more out of a set of tires.

If I went through tires as fast as the rest of yal Id have to get another job, that would be over a set a year. I try to avoid running stuff over. After hunting 700+ acres in Kendal Co with roads gaveled with very rough/course home dug gravel and dirt/natural rock un paved roads for over 20 years I can only think of one flat caused by a rock.
Had our place in Duval co since 07 which is all sand roads most of which were growing up with mesquite and have yet to have a flat on a truck tire caused by a thorn or stump etc. A couple lag bolts have found a tire tho.

That's a great concept, and I'm sure it has a lot of practical uses. I just don't see it being practical for on highway use. They've got to be heavy, difficult to balance, and rough riding. If they could make it tolerable on the road, I'd try 'em out.

My 1st set of new mtr's is on my 02 Dodge ranch truck. It has worn out many sets of tires. These tires are the best off road tires I have ever owned. Time will tell on tread wear. Hancook dynapro at have been the best overall but just don't have enough grip. They are tough as hell.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nitto Trail Grapplers are the best mud tire I have ever ran. I've had them all from Super Swamper, BFG, Toyo, Goodyear, Cooper, Buckshot, Remington. Nitto lasted a long time under my F250, ride great, pulled hard in the mud, and maintained balance throug out the life of the tire
