Great video. If we as citizens are expected to know and follow the laws, then law enforcement should be required to know our rights and allow us to exercise them freely. Granted, in the instance of the video, they were obviously doing it on purpose to prove a point, but maybe thats what we need more of. Citizens all over flexing our rights to remind people we still have them.

Those videos were great. I don't know why people think cops are their friends. They push themselves on you with no probable cause and most idiots allow it. Don't let them in your house and don't let them search your car. I had a sorry dude from the BRA accuse me of hiding trout (drugs) in my car, said he saw me with his binoculars..lol. this was just an excuse for search and seizure. After arguing w him for 30 minutes, I decided to make a fool of him and allow a drug dog and him to search my jeep. He found nothing but in the process, he ripped all the wiring from behind my dash, ripped up my carpet and left my back seat out of my jeep. Without putting anything back. The BRA blows

The BRA blows I agree with you to a certain extent. Not all cops are bad. My grandfather is a former LEO and DPS officer and, especially over the last couple of years, if respectfully addressed, would respect the constitutional rights of induviduals.

WOW! I guess I'm one of those guys that don't know my rights... If it were me in those situations I would EXPECT to be on the ground with a knee in my ear.
I've always done pretty well with answering yes sir and no sir and answering a few simple questions and showing my ID.
I guess I'm wrong for complying but I REALLY don't like taking a chance on going to jail or being stopped on a regular basis for ANY minor infraction they can find.
My legal knowledge is kinda like my Spanish.... I know just enough to get me in trouble!

I have no idea why anyone would chastise these people for standing up for their rights. Would you allow the second amendment to be infringed? Then why get mad at people who know the fourth amendment.

Alot of people who make these videos on youtube dont do it to show off. They do it to educate, and posting a video online in todays technological age is one of the best free ways to reach a massive group of people. These guys arent doing it to be cool or to gain popularity, if so, they would prominently display their names. They do it to teach people about what rights they have, and to teach them how to stand up for them.
They are patriots, not idiots.

This kid is a punk and it shows, he was droping case law way too much to know anything about the gun itself. He had an agenda and that was to make a youtube video. Just like someone said if you open carry people are going to call. Say 20 folks call cops say there is a guy walking down the street with a gun on his hip and the cops say we cant do anything it his right. Then this same guy steps into a school and shoots ten kids. Even if case law saws its leagal, stopping the guy making a little conversation and seding him on his way may deter some stupid act, hard to say but not checking at all is way too trusting of some nutty people in this world.
when he acts like he did will do nothing more than get into the heads of the city leaders and make it illeagal to open carry in certain areas. a little cooperation goes a long way You're extrapolating a potential occurrence merely from the presence of a lawfully-carried pistol as justification to detain the man? Think about it; Rosa Parks was breaking the law by sitting in an impermissible seat. This man was acting within the bounds of law, assuming not otherwise disqualified to possess a firearm. But she's a hero and he's a punk?

I am only 40 myself but it seems to me back in the Old Days you could also ride around with a rifle or shot gun in your back window ,take a pocket knife to school or have some ammo cartridges in your pocket with out them locking down the county or being harassed for it !! You could also get in a fist fight at school and get some licks by the principle or play cops and robbers with out having to go through psychiatric evaluation and to much stuff to type about. Now try to do any of those type things. I am a Yes Sir No Sir type person myself and expect the same treatment in return but times have definitely changed. I teach my kids to show the same respect but want them to know what their rights are as my life is at least half way over and its not about me any more its about the generations to follow. Basically an old saying I was taught was TO USE IT OR LOOSE IT could come into play here !

Basically an old saying I was taught was TO USE IT OR LOOSE IT could come into play here ! Well said! I'm side by side with PD a third of my life. I know them well, we respect them, they respect us, in my city. But I also know officers like to bully and I hate that! I've had one treat me like crap for a couple of minutes, found out I was a Fireman and did a 180. Turned into a guy I'd like to hang out with. The law student in the video could have complied, but he didn't have to and he knew it. He was proving a point. I probably wouldn't have since I don't know the law like he does, but good for him! I must give much props to the officer. He really kept his cool and never even showed a hint of anger. He did his job well before and during the street education.

Sounds a lot like the stop and frisk policy.
Seems awful close a police state and if they can stop you because you have a gun on you, next they will stop you because you are on the street, or in your car, or just for fun. Then they will want to search your home.
Slippery slope. The cops stopped him because he was doing nothing wrong?
How does that not sit funny with all of yall?
And he was not rude, he was just uncooperative, just as the police officer failed to recognize his rights and let him on his way.

Not even close to what your saying since the cops got called. Do you have any clue as to how many calls cops go on that there is nothing wrong when they get there?

So if you get a call about a man just driving his vehicle (nothing illegal about it), you go and pull the man over because yall got a call about him doing something that is perfectly legal? That doesn't sound screwed up to you? And the call was not that the man was shooting in the street, or waving his gun around. All he was doing was walking down the street with one on his hip.

Bottom line: The Constitution gives us rights and we are free to exercise them. But one of LE's best tools is to ask and most people comply-which means they freely consent in not exercising them. Which is fine for all concerned-makes life easier for all.
But I can't hold it against anyone for exercising them. But you better be spot on about what they are and when/how they can be exercised. In other words, if you're going to play the game you better know the rules.
Finally, I will say that the camera is a good idea when doing so-because if an officer "finds" some "reasonable suspicion" or "probable cause" after the fact you are going to be fighting an uphill battle. Not saying most would do so but if you live in the real world you know it happens every day.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

And here is a LEO crossing the line. Do you think the LEO was justified or not? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyYlRZAdPGkAs I said above.....most will push it as far as they can...furthermore some will just cross the line anyway. Also as many have said....If we dont use our rights we will lose them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVf4dwN1SJwThat's how you do it! I think it's funny that the same people who want to build a border fence and put hundreds more agents on the border have such a problem with checkpoints. Fiscally they're much more cost effective.
