17 HMR and some decoys. Sounds like a nice little afternoon. It can break up the boredom!

Okay, I was all on board and in tune with this thread until somebody had to bring up eating a damned crow?

If you can get one that's alive but has a busted wing, you can tie him to a string and he'll hop around adding realism to your setup...Works like a charm.

Have never had issues with crows, are you sure you have no caron around your feeders, partially eaten mice, etc.?

I say they disturb the peace. I've never been more annoyed, at home or while hunting in the open country of Texas, as I have by crows.
When I figure out a way to get a camcorder mounted to view through the scope, I see a dang good time with my .22-250 coming up.

May try hanging a rubber snake near and around your feeder....then again crows are fairly smart and could pick up on the trickery, so you may want to switch it up every now and again....fake owl for a while....rubber snake afterwards....if all else fails, "choot'em! choot'em!"

All I have to say is that the Hornady 55 Gr. V-Max out of a 22-250 with a max load of H-380 does wonderful things to our crow friends. I have pictures of several that came down in pieces.. A wing here.. A tail over there.. Head & carcass a few feet further back.
Also, after you start shooting the crows will fly off but they will know where you are at.. Simply let them fly off then move 10-15 yards and let the caller keep going and they will come back again within 5 minutes or so for round 2. On rd. 2 they will not come in as close so you better be watching and be ready for a 150+ yard shot. Once they land in a tree, unless you saw them land, you will hear them, but won't see them. They will actually know where you are at and keep a branch between you and them so you can't see them that easily. They are very smart birds. I can't wait until the next time I have one in my cross-hairs.

Last year saw about 10 crows on something in the front pasture. Got on the scooter went out and they had picked a Copperheads eyes out and was working on his head. He was one pissed off snake. Striking blindly at everything. Shot him with my 4-10 Judge, finished him off. They aren't afraid of snakes.
