JMO, but I'd go in this direction. Probably the Quigley in .45-110. Gotta admit, it'd be unique.

I'd buy a nice .22LR or .22 Mag for plinking and playing. You'll use it much more than the rest, most likely. ^^^ This...

Forum says "Veteran Tracker". I could not track a garbage truck into a fireworks factory.

If you are interested in fun shooting at low cost you can't get any cheaper than 22LR. 550 rounds for under $30. My favorite would be the Henry lever action. If your into AR shooting they come in 22LR as well. To double the fun buy you a 22LR pistol in revolver or semi-auto to go along with it. Congrats on your coming retirment. Saddly, the last time I bought 500 rounds of 22LR it was less than $15.

i have a 257 Weatherby. No Questions Asked. flattest shooting rifle there is.to shoot anything in North America if necessary. Not the best for some animals but hits like a ton of bricks for its size.I own one of every caliber, and the 257 is my money gun. I have a high fence gun ranch and have dropped everything imaginable. Eland, Black Buck, Sika, Axis, fallow, water buffalo, aoudads,Mouflons and red sheep + the 300-500 # hog all the time. hell the 6.8 with night vision is s hog killing machine, eland with one shot by 25-06
Bottom line; the 25-06 and 257 Weatherby are money with anything you run into
Bottom Line both will shoot flight to 300-350 and with good bullits its game over. you ask me one gun to get done, it's 257 weathergy with 100 gr Barnes my boys are good to 500-600 yards without thinkinh. WE goe to 700-100 we can do, just have ro adjust to the elemenets

As you were... .17 Winchester Super Magnum rimfire...will be my next one and if it is a ringer will get rid of my Savage .17 HMR since you dont reload will be relatively inexpensive to shoot once the ammo hits the shelves...

Since the three you have will kill anything in Texas. The only thing I'd add is a .22-250 for coyotes down to prarie dogs. The super speed 55 grainers are too much fun.

I would buy a classic Winchester 94 in 30-30. Now thats what everybody needs in their collection I agree! The 30-30 is a great rifle to take down any game, with Hornady ammo you can very accurately take any game. I adore my 30-30 for accuracy, dependability, and one tough gun!
