I will never own one but a high quality double rifle in a dangerous game caliber would be the ultimate rifle for me.

Any gun that can very verified to have been used by any Texican or volunteer soldier fighting for Texas in the Texas Revolution.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Ever since the first time I laid eyes on one... Ed Brown custom Jim Wilson model, although mine would be ordered with a flat mainspring housing.

It was a toss up for me between two guns. Because my dad carried a M14 in the Marines I'd like to have a Springfield M1A. My second Holy Grail gun would be an M24 in .308 or 300 Win Mag.

My Holy Grail? AR chambered in 30-06 capable of handling 65k psi rounds. Ordered it in October. ETA March 2013 http://www.onlylongrange.com/bn36.asp Of course then I'm going to get a custom upper for it chambered in 375 Whelen Improved for bigger game. And then add a nice 25-06 upper for varmint hunting. Final tricking out will be putting a FosTech DefendAR to basically recreate a Browning Automatic Rifle for the 21st century. If I cant do it in 20 rounds of 375 Whelen or 30-06 hot loaded AP, I'm not too sure I want to have to hunt it or fight it. And oddly enough 30-06 ammo right now is slightly cheaper than 223/5.56 which is just bizarre.

A 300 Win Mag built on a Surgeon Action with a 26" Kreiger barrel and Jewell trigger with all sitting in a 2.0 AICS folding stock built by a very competent gunsmith and finally mounted with a 6-24x56 Zeiss Hensoldt scope. And of course a giant tactical bolt knob just for the coolness factor.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I'll be different: British Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 (T) Sniper in .303 British The only standard issued sniper rifles of WW2 that were accurized. All others were simply more accurate rifles taken of the assembly line with a scope added. - thedoveshooter OOOOOOH!!! I forgot about that one!!

Savage model 1899 Pre - world war II Deluxe G model take-down In savage - 250-3000 w/ 22 inch barrel
I have a 99 in .300 savage (1932) G model takedown 24" barrel Got at a gun show - was "bubba -up'ed" it has a refinished stock and tapped for side mount scope - as close as I have ever found - without paying several thousand for it...
Why - my dad had one - always loved it

I want a gun to be able to reach 1000 yards; while the bullet is traveling about 2000 fps with retained energy of about 6500 foot pounds.

Somehow track down my grandfather's carbine he used in the south pacific, though it's probably destroyed.
My uncle has my grandfather's 410 pistol he used to clear out caves while island hopping.

1. Patton's SAA colts
2. John Wayne's 94 Winchester I think Patton only carried one Colt.45, the other was a S&W .357 Registered Magnum. I want to own Bell's 7x57 Mauser, or Capstick's .375 H&H Musgrave. Maybe one of Sam Colt's or JM Browning's prototypes of any design.

Any old gun I find with my metal detector!
Otherwise I have most of what I want. Maybe one more 'bubba custom' Remington would be nice.
But seriously, I really want to find an old gun with my metal detector..

First it was a Nighthawk Custom 1911. Got my GRP II Bobtail in a few weeks ago. Then the target moved to Guncrafter, Ed Brown, and Wilson. Should have the Guncrafter in next week, the Ed Brown in November, and the Wilson in February 2014.
Where is this? I want to see!
National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK. John Wayne's daughter/grand daughter donated it to the museum. They also have Tom Selleck's rig from Quigley, minus the Sharps. I was disappointed about not seeing the rifle, but I love this saddle.

I've gotten a couple recently German Luger and a broomhandle that has detachable magazines. A usgi 1911 would be next on the list.

Mark X Inter-arms, made in UK, chambered in 30-06 with 24 inch barrel and Mouser action. I own that very gun, except in .375 H&H. The barreled action was, of course, from Yugoslavia (now Serbia), but the Turkish walnut stock was crafted by Whitworth. I'm rather surprised over the popularity of handguns on this thread. I would have guessed that fine rifles and shotguns with old world craftmanship would have run neck-and-neck for top spot, with handguns trailing far, far behind. Not so, apparently....

The Holland & Holland Rifle, known as KARA MOJO, Wm. D. Bells' 257 rigby / 7x57 mauser......that short action 7mm killed more than 1000 bull elephants and as many Rhinos.
The Walther PP that Hitler used to shoot himself in his bunker.
Carlos Hathcocks Winchester 70 he had on his 2nd tour.
That damned mannlicher that we all watched Saddam Hussien shooting off when he heard we were coming to wipe his butt off the planet.
The LONE RANGERS silver revolver.
The rifle that REALLY shot JFK.

Not realistic, but a Minigun for all out firepower, but in a semi-realistic world, probably a Holland and Holland, or a double-rifle

Fuchs built bolt action double rifle.
Because true double rifle snobs hate it.

My family heirloom. It's a colt 1911 made in 1917. All original. Served in 2 wars and a sheriffs side arm for many years. Sometimes round count doesn't matter.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Thomas Edison.

AA-12 fully auto shogun. No practical use, but it would be fun to shoot

My dream gun is a Browning Hi-Power, shoulder stocked with the crest of the Sultan of Muscat and Oman stamped in it...gorgeous, and only a few hundred made I have a Chinese Contract "Lend-Lease" Hi-Power, made by the J.I. Inglis company out of Toronto Canada. According to its numbers, it was in the first shipment DENIED to Chiang Kai Shek as he was selling the pistols, not using them in warfare. and in case anyone is wondering about its SBR status...its been grandfathered...

X2 on Carlos' Mod 70 win my number one choice

If we're going down this path, then one of Jim Corbett's rifles. Either the .275 Rigby or the .450/.400. Jim Corbett is probably the hunter I most admire.

blazer baronesse and a Weatherby Mark V Deluxe I second this. R8 Luxus would be my preference though and the MKV in Euromark.

Guns are tool to me, some are prettier than others but that is not in the top 3 reasons I choose one. Rarity is not on my list at all.

Awesome choice For my choice I have to go with a Cheytec Intervention System.
There are those who read of what others have done, then there are those like me who do what others read about.
