What is your max distance that you are willing to take a shot on a Game animal? Gun yardage = ? Bow yardage = ? What you got

I'm comfortable out to 300 with my rifle, but only from the solid rest in my blind, or from a prone position. Maybe 200 from across the hood, or out of the door jamb.

The farthest shot I have ever attempted was a touch over 450, and I droped the first 10 point I had ever killed right in his tracks with that shot!! I seriously doubt I would ever attempt a shot like that again now that I know just how much luck played into that shot!
I would say the max for me under ideal conditions is about 375! I have shot several deer between 250 and 311 yards all with clean one shot kills, so I figure 375 would be a good stoping point!
Even with high powered scopes those deer still look tiny at those distances!!

Sorry, I don't really hunt with a bow, but hope to kill a javelina this next year and I ain't planning on take a shot of more than about 5 or 6 yards.
As for rifle hunting, with me, it all depends on the game being shot at and the location where I am hunting.
Out in Pecos county, I would try a 300 yard shot on a white tail.
Over the rest of the areas I have hunted, 200 yards would be on the outer edge of how far I would attempt a shot.
Elk/Pronghorn/Mule Deer, I will take a 350 to 400 yard shot if I have to.
If I can get closer I prefer it, but some times that just don't work out.
If I had my choice however, I would limit my shots to 100 yards or less.

I don't bowhunt,yet.....but the farthest I will shoot with a rifle is about 200 yds. I feel comfortable out to that distance with my primary rifle and practice at that range, but where I hunt I don't have any shots that far. That would be the longest range I feel comfortable at, and I would rather not take a shot than make a bad shot and lose an animal.

Shot a muledeer at 410 yds with a solid rest, without a good rest, probably 300 or so.

Bow = Probably about 30 yards ( I shoot instinctively so I don't measure range) Gun = under ideal conditions, 400 yards
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

bow 40 yards
rifle I feel real confident at 400, and ok at 500. I practice at 200 and 300 every time I shoot. I have shot at almost 500 at a target, but never a deer. Most of my shoots are between 100 and 300 yards.

Depends on the gun I am shooting...Poops gun=20 yards max. He missed a bobcat at 30 with it. Bow at anything besides a hog 30 yards. Except if I ever get an op. for an Elk. Hog with a bow...no distance too far!

20-25 with the bow if its a deer, varmits and hogs there is not much limit.
200 with the rifle. I can pass on the shot and come back next time with a better set up.

Depending on the Wind- 350 to 400. I normally pass on anything over 300.
bow 30 yards
