I was hoping you guys could share some of the cool makeshift blinds you've made out of stuff laying around, brush, and things like that...low budget stuff. I want to get some ideas....

Soon there will be people replacing their fences. Stop by and ask the home owner or fence builder if you can have their old fence sections.
You can make some dang nice makeshift blinds out of that material.

Probably not what you wanting to know but, I take a 5 gal bucket, half of one of those camo burlaps that you can buy at W mart, a short/cheap camera tripod and clothes pins.
I set the bucket between two cedar bushes, attach the burlap to each side and put the tripod in the middle for a center support/gun rest.

of picket fencing. and use metal

some may be using the old cars
and trucks in their backyards for

I've used t posts and old pallets to make many blinds, camo burlap, or scrap plywood painted camo screwed to the outside to keep your game from seeing through the pallets

I have made blinds out of net wire fencing or cattle panels. Just wire or zip tie brush/limbs to it or put camo or burlap cloth on it. The net wire is nice since if you attach something to it most of the time you can roll it up and carry it with you. You can then form it into a circle or horseshoe and back into a bush or under a tree.

That would make it dual purpose. When your not using it as a hunting blind, you can use it as a taco stand.

You could even practicing multi-tasking eating lunch and shooting stuff all at the same time together at once.

i would guess a junked car could
be used for a makeshift blind as
well as guest worker housing.
find one to be hauled off for free,
and sell the engine and trans for a
profit. the windshield can be taken out
carefully in one piece and laid aside
for use of the car/blind.
the w/s can be carefully set back in place
to close the car/blind from the elements. the hood
can be removed and put on the roof as
an overhang. the trunk can be used
as locking storage for corn and
supplies(toilet paper-drinking water-etc.)
if left in rolling condition, it can
be moved to different places on your lease.
if you get the right car, it may have
a comfy reclining seat, and you can
hunt a kid next to you, or they can crawl
into the back for a nap (or you can)

Sounds like my kind of hunting. My wife and I were on an RV trip back in 2010 and stopped in Des Moines to visit friends. I ended up buying a Howa Axium 22-250 from Scheels sporting goods in Jordan Creek Mall. On out way back south through Kansas to New Mexico we ran across several pararie dogs towns. I considered just pulling off the side of the road and adjusting a few. A 36 foot Itasca motor home pulling an 18 foot trailer with a Ford Escape on it would of been the perfect ground blind.

You can make a great ground blind from a $20 cattle panel. Bend into a square with a gap for a door. Cut out a shooting port with bolt cutters. Wrap in burlap, then tie some brush to it. Works great on the cheap. If you want to add a roof just get two 10' pieces of 1" PVC and run them in an X. Cover with a brown tarp.

You will have a warm, decently-dry blind for under $50.

Cattle panel and some wrap. make a circle with 2 panels and a 3rd over the top of you to create a dome. Cut a door and wrap.. zip tie a few branches or brush..

Here you go, this should give you the idea. All that's left is the tarp and the burlap.

You hunting that close to the fence? I do mind round like this using burlap or camo material. I sometimes put black plastic around it then cover with cloth. The plastic seems to help with scent control if bow hunting out of it. I have seen some covered with black weed barrier or shade cloth on sides and top.

No, I'm afraid that's the hazards of building projects in suburbia some times. My neighbors get exposed to all sorts of fun stuff, deer stands under construction, feeders being tested, etc.

That spot would make one heck of a squirrel hunting blind though. Hmmm...

Why don't you just get a pop up blind?

The cheap ones just tear up, and the expensive ones ... Well they just tear up too. The thorns down south are just brutal.

Excatly. Can't leave a pop-up up permanently without it getting ripped or sun-rotted. Cattle panel blind will hold up and costs less too.

I've used the same pop up for the last 3 seasons
I set it up in sept--- take it down in march it sits on a 4 ft flat form

I do the same as sav7mag. If you take them down in the early spring and strore them they will last 3-4 years...even the thinner ones. The heavier weight ones should last longer. I just haven't had mine that long yet.
