Absolute minimum is a scoped rifle and ammo. Scope will work as a substitute for binocs. All other extras will fit in a lightweight backpack.. 1.Knife (Or on your belt) 2.Camera 3.Flashlight 4.Snacks/Drinks 5.Rattlebox 6.T.P. 7.Cellphone (Turned Off of course) 8.Map 9.Rangefinder 10.Puzzles/Book/Porno magazine

Every time I leave the drive way I double check I have my:
1. license 2. gun 3. ammo 4. Leatherman
Anything else I find I forgot when I pull to the gate…oh well…

This all goes in my backpack and most of it stays in there all year round: license, pen, couple of knifes, water, pee bottle, ammo, tablet, phone, camera, zip ties, puzzle book, 9mm handgun, snake bite kit, small first aid kit, latex gloves
when we get to the lease, we usually pre-stage the following in our blind: binoc's, sleeping bag, blanket, extra pee bottles, flashlights
Since our lease is pretty secure and I only hunt one place on it, my rifle goes with me the first outing, and then I usually leave it unloaded in the blind when we head back to camp. If I hunted more places on our lease, I'd probably drag it back and forth between the blind and my trailer.

I don't "field" dress any more. I bought a Jet Sled last year. I just roll the deer into the sled, attach it to my 4Runner and drag it in. I them hoist it up and gut in in the shop. Much easier to keep the meat clean.
JR Nah, the last thing I want is dealing with having to tote off a bucket full of bloated guts. I will leave them in the field where the critters can have them. I have never had a problem with "dirty" meat, how exactly do you get dirt in the meat of an animal that still has the hide on it? The only thing exposed would be the tenders and unless you pick up a handful of dirt and throw it in there, how does it get there? Most guys who are used to hanging deer to gut them split deer too far up the belly when they start doing it on the ground. Thus allowing dirt and debris to get in the body cavity. I've seen guys split them almost to the neck. I laughed and walked on. I must have gun, ammo, license and water. Everything else is optional to some degree. But, for the record, I HAVE forgot my gun. When I was younger and had to load up dads stuff as well as mine. Lol.

For me the gloves are more of a safety issue. The blood doesn't scare me, but the diseases shared on forums here scare the crap out of me.
Don't forget the phone. Now days its your flashlight, camera, and something to keep you occupied.
Are there better instructions for gutting a deer on the ground? I slice them down the middle and drag out everything that I don't want. If it gets dirty, it'll hose off.

I usually take a trailgun (22 mag) with snakeshot and vmax shells, water jug, 8x21 binocs, a hat, and a skinning knife.
Really, for most hunting, you really only need a gun and ammo but accessorization is the true key to happiness.

Here's my kit:
License / Weapons Permit Cell phone Ammo Rifle w/ sling 8x56 Binos SureFire flashlight Range finder (if in a new area) knife gerber tool Gallon Zip Lock (heart, kidneys, liver) latex gloves (protect against swine pest or to handle a fox) extra trash bags (in case I find trash) small 1st aid kit (bandages, quick clot, neosporin)
All other items stay in the truck, like ratchet straps, or a gambrel and tackle

Blow up doll. That movie "Deliverance" scared the bejabbers out of me, figured one of the dolls would keep them hillbillies distracted while I made my getaway. Extras include knife, water, food, matches, alcohol gel and duct tape.
