Anyone ever used one of those decoy sleds? How many Texas rigged dekes do you think would fit in one? Thanks.

They pull more than deeks easily, even a 27 series battery ... DOH..
I have never used mine to pull decoys, just blind bags, guns and mojos
I have two small ones and a big one, the big one will get it done

4 dzn mallard sized deks fit on mine. I normally have a tote for my mojo, my blind bag, 2 dzn +/- deks and my gun on it.

If there is not any water to pull it through, they are a bitch to pull.
I went to Home Depot and bought their plastic concrete mixing tub and added a rope. $20.

I only use about 18 decoy's but I can put everything in it. Gun, bag, decoy's, chair, mojo. It is a pain to pull if you are not in water.

I have had over four dozen in mine, but it is tough to pull through the grass and over rocks. I had the concrete mixing tub for a while, I thought it was harder to pull. That might be perception because I never measured the amount of force.
Both are good to sit in or behind as a blind.

I bought a Jet Sled from Cabelas just before Thanksgiving. Used it to drag in a doe that weekend. I pulled it behind my 4-Runner. Wish i had bought one years ago!! I would think they would be great for dekes.

might want to try and put some type of wax on the bottom of the sleds to make them easier to pull.

Johnny's in Eagle Lake has a whole stack of them in stock for $99. They are the big OTTER tubs, and they are black. I've had mine for MANY years and can pull 5 dozen+ deks and all the gear, and they are built like a tank!!!

Bought two from Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops about 15 years ago. They are tough to beat.
Used to always push a John Boat loaded with decoys, when the tide dropped it was a pain to push across the mud.
I usually fit 3-4 dozen in the sled, then put 3-4 dozen in a decoys sack. Place the sack on top of the sled and bungie to sled to stop it from rolling out.
Other sled we'd put our dry boxes, guns, camo ice chest with water/tea and a few other decoys as well.
Even loaded down it beats the heck out of carrying everything in if you have a hike. Only takes about an inch of water and they just glide right along. Just step inside the rope and walk.

Spray or apply silicone to the bottom of the sled to male a slippery bottom.

I used a concrete mixing tub idea until a real cold morning it shattered into pieces where it was being pulled from. Then I had to make several trips to get the crap to the truck.
Spend the extra money on a sled is my advice.
Don't let your ears hear what your eyes didn't see, and don't let your mouth say what your heart doesn't feel As much as I hate to admit it, I do like my truck

Love mine. I started with the cement mixing tub but then found the "bow" rise on the sleds was really a plus. Plus the tubs are thin and you will get pinholes in it from draging it around. The thicker tubs are expensive from Cabelas for sure but mine is now going on three years. My cement tub was one and done.
I drag it behind 4-wheelers; float it with blind bag in timber; pack all my gear (guns, stools, decoys, blind bags) in it put in in the truck bed and just pull it out and put it across the john boat. Gear loading the boat takes 3 seconds. Get to spot - pull out sled boat is unpacked.

A piece of advice for the guys that use the concrete tub idea. I've been doing this for a while. The bottom is completely smooth so it slides very easily. I get two of the tubs and use JB weld around the lip to seal them together then flip it over and fill the channel on the underside of the lip where the rope goes through with more jb weld to make it solid. It works great hauling a layout blind, blind bag, and 3 dozen dekes. If I could get my dog to pull it for me too that would be great.

I love mine, I take a big boat to my spot and use my sled to carry tons of stuff from the boat to the spread. It cuts my trips way down. It allows me to hunt with 10-12 doz deaks, 2 fully grassed layout blinds, mojos, etc. I can load it with half my spread so 5-6 doz. Mine is L60"xW30". I then put the layout in the sled and gass it out. I can hunt in 6" of water or so dep on waves.

That's one hell of a dog... Awesome. And just to let y'all know my huge hockey bag came in handy carrying all my extra clothes Saturday I fell into the water and had plenty in the bag to not have a ruined hunt. Now only to fix hole in my waders.
