I'm waiting until February to start the protein feeders back up.

With the colder weather they like the carbs to help maintain body heat. In 2 to 4 weeks they will be on it and if we don't get rain in our area they will probably eat more than I want to afford.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I'm sure those are a float valve. Just like your toilet tank.

Except when the acorns were plentiful the deer on our place were never off the protein.
I haven't had much luck getting deer on any of our places to eat the bigger name brand proteins.
They do eat any of the L&E and or Gorman /redchain products and the protein the feed mill in Graham makes just fine.
500 lbs lasts about 40 ~ 60 days (depending on conditions) on our place in Young county.

Kinda between Loving & Jean.

We've hunted several different areas of Young county for many years.

Our deer in Cottle county are back on it. We're feeding antler max and then starting cottonseed starting mid February.

Dkj, I will be starting up FMC (Famers Milling Company's) formulated protein blend next month. The guy that works there showed me some last month and made a point of pointing out that it had a cottonseed blend to it and how much the deer liked cottonseed. Have you found that to be very much the truth?

Beginning to hit my feeders more. Both bucks and does. Still not sure if Gorman/Redchain is doing what I want it to do.
