Ranch is 2,100 acres high fence just north of San Antonio and has a small herd of sable, one mature bill has broke a horn and we are offering a great deal for someone. His broke side has around 18" of horn and his good side will be very close to 50" if not over. I will try to upload some pictures I got of him. Can be bow or rifle.
Price is $7,500 lodging, meals, guide included.

Not a bad price for anyone intresed in a sable, any good taxidermist can fix the horn and this is 1/2 price.

Crap! I wish I was ready, I'd dart the bastard for $7500 if he really is 50 inches.
50 inches would be a greater breeder.
Got any pictures for the peanut gallery?

If someone is serious about it and is willing to take full responsibility when darting for injury and pays upon arrival regardless of risk then PM me and I will talk it over with the ranch manager. It wouldn't be easy but it would be possible

Any taxidermist can make the horn match the size easy, jut looks like he may not be even and the broke horn seems bent in the pics is all. If i was serious i wouldnt worry about the other half of the horn and just have a taxidermist fix it for a little extra.

you can only score what he has on his head, even if its broken it dont count if you have the other side. Sorry but there are more to animals than just a score. Thats over 1/2 off of one thats 50". Id say it would cost 20K plus to buy him with both horns intact.

Well, if for some reason he did have both horns and the other one was like the one then how good would he score?

The kid is single handedly financing his taxidermist mortage, alimony and new truck payments.

Axis-Boy,
Listen hard, hunting is more than animals on the wall. Not sure if you have experienced this or not, but you will get more out of hunting if only 1 in 5 of your hunts end in the death of an animal, and if only 1 in 200 of those animals is record book.
You will learn the real meaning of what it means to earn an animal, and when an animal comes easy how it is a gift for all the times you killed your self for nothing but time in the outdoors. And how wonderful just a doe can be.
I have killed a lot of nice animals in my life, and I have been on hunts where I killed nothing. One of the best hunts of my life was about 6 months ago in Victoria after Sambar. We got to camp late, as we were on the last mile or two drive in on a dirt track we saw 3 or 4 sambar in the headlights. It was late when we finally got to our campsite so we just rolled out our sleeping bags and went to sleep on the ground. It was cold and there was a full moon so I slept horribly. At about 5 or 6 am we got up and had cold breakfast cookies and a box of Carnation instant breakfast and I went up the hill.
I had a sambar bust me in the thick bush I couldn't see about 150 yards from camp. About 30 minuites later I missed the biggest fox I have ever seen in my life, at very close range.
A shot rang out about 500 yards from me and it was my friend who called me on the radio to tell me he had one down. I hiked back to camp dumped my rifle and picked up my knives and headed his way.
He had shot a big cow and she was probably 500 pounds. It took us 2 hours to get her down to a logging road where we could get the truck, then we skinned her out and headed back to town.
In the end I saw 4 or 5 sambar, a huge fox, and never fired a shot against a sambar myself. We split the meet and I had one of the best hunts I ever went on.
I have wonderful trophies mounted on the wall, but the sambar I didn't shoot was as big a deal to me as anything I have ever shot including my gold medal steenbuck and the wonderful old roe buck I shot in Germany in 2007.
20 years from now when you are a man in your 30's the Grants Gazelle you didn't shoot will mean nothing to you. It probably won't even take that long for you to disregard it.

It probably will not, I'm hoping to sell it to a museum. My dad is the one who wants to keep it. Sounds like you had fun. I don't see myself hunting Sambar anytime soon though since there is a myriad of species that are easily affordable and I'd love to hunt(I.e Nilgai, Pere David's Deer, Rusa, Sitatunga etc) but my dad thinks they are ugly and therefore they are not likely to be harvested by me anytime soon. Thankfully our Ohio exotic days are done.

Wow, daddies still footing the bill?
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
