Great job everyone good networking for the win.

Yes the guy is obviously stupid but and a win for the good guys but in the end, this is an example of a major fail for society and our criminal justice system in general. With all the dirt bag's priors, anyone wonder why was he out on the street breaking into cars in parking lots?

Not advocating violence, vigilantism or trying to rain on anyones parade but he will be back, on the street again, in 18mo, 26mo, or __months and coming to a parking lot near you again.

(I bet he wont try to sell the next rifle he steals online though)

That story is like a TV show or something... When those cats told the cops that friends on an online hunting forum found the rifle, the guy confirmed the serial number, where he was at and what his contact info was faces... I bet they were like "they did what with a what?"....I wish I could have seen their reactions...

I think we should go back to the old roman days when they cut off the hand of the thief when they where caught to prevent them from doing it again.

Talking to the game warden in Colorado about the problem bears they trap. He said that they get an ear tag in the left ear the first time they are caught and a tag in the right ear the second time. I asked him what happens when they have a third occurence, he said no third tag, game over. Maybe we should adopt the same policy for thieves.

The guy that stole one of my rifles last year got 5-years PROBATION and no restitution for the rest of my stuff that was not returned. I got the rifle back.

If only they could turn the DB over to us for a little corrective action.

Update:
Many thanks again to all here at THF.
The rifle was returned to my cousin from the ATF and APD.
It is back in the right hands at last.

The best part of all? Your cousin has back his gun with the stock you made to commemorate a trip y'all took together. Sounds like alot of sentimental value that has finally made it home.
