I fed Purina One, but switched toExtreme dog fuel and it made my dogs fat, crap through a screen door, and crapping all the time.. Some friends in my HRC sell it and I got a bit of a price break. Not worth it. Their TEETH started looking bad as well. Some dogs may do well on it but mine certainly did not. watch their teeth. I went back to Purina One,my dogs have always done well with it(Chicken And Rice) but recently got fed up with the price for a 37.5#. I am now halfway through my first bag of Loyall. I am very pleased so far with the Adult maintenance, and will switch to the Performance or Professional come season if they keep doing well. My 2 pups are doing well on the Puppy as well. http://www.loyallpetfood.com/Screens/Products/adultmaintenance.aspxI'm a stickler for labels as well. I've learned that anything over 3% fiber is hard on my dogs.

I switched back to Pro Plan and could see an improvement in my dogs within a day. That is it, I am not trying anything else.

Well, yeah, look at the ingredients:
Chicken By-Product Meal, Brewer's Rice, Rice Flour, Ground Yellow Corn, Poultry Fat (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Ground Wheat, Fish Meal, Dried Beet Pulp (Sugar Removed), Animal Digest, Potassium Chloride, Lecithin, Salt, Flaxseed, Canola Oil, Dried Egg Product, Rosemary Extract, Garlic, Vitamins: Choline Chloride, Natural Source Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin, Calcium Pantothemate, Thiamin Mononitrate (Source of Vitamin B1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Source of Vitamin B6), Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Minerals: Kelp Polysacharide Complexes of Zinc, Iron, Manganese and Copper, Zinc Sulfate, Calcium Iodate Cobalt Carbonate, Sodium Selenite.
That's biggest list of crap I've ever seen in a dog food claiming to be a premium product. There's absolutely no real meat in in - chicken by-product is beaks, feet, feathers, bones and other non-edible junk. Corn is not biologically correct for a canine diet and has no place in any dog food anywhere. Ditto wheat. Poultry fat is high on the ingredient list and is proven to cause bloat when it's a significant portion of a dog's diet.
That stuff looks like it would do an excellent job if you were purposely trying to put your dog in an early grave.
If brilliant men are roses then I'm just a field of daisies.

I second the Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice. I had to switch to a non corn based dog food becasue my BLF is allergic to corn. During duck season I feed her the diamond naturals extreme athelete 32 fat 25 protein.

I work for a company that sells them all. eukanuba, Iams, nutro, science diet, Fromm, etc. By far the brand that has the fewest returns and die hard customers is eukanuba. If you want to go with a cheaper but still good food try enhance hunters edge. Like I say it is not as good as euk but it retails for around 22 bucks for 50# compared to 45 or so for 40# of euk.

We are feeding our yellow lab Hill's Science Diet Large Breed Puppy Food and are seeing excellent results. I have been a Purina man most of my life but I like this better that anything I have used that Purina makes. She has a beautiful coat, her energy has been good during her training. Overall she just looks like the dog you would see at a top AKC/UKC dog show. I couldn't ask for better, and no weird things going on with her digestive system. We fed her Purina Puppy Chow when we first got her and fought diareha the whole time. Heres' some of the info on it: Ingredients Ground Whole Grain Corn, Chicken By-Product Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Dried Beet Pulp, Chicken Liver Flavor, Animal Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Fish Oil, Flaxseed, Soybean Oil, Iodized Salt, Potassium Chloride, L-Lysine, vitamins (L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, L-Tryptophan, minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid, L-Carnitine, Calcium Carbonate, Beta-Carotene, Rosemary Extract. Average Nutrient Contents didn't turn out right on a cut and paste so heres' a link to that page: http://www.hillspet.com/hillspet/products/productDetails.hjsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524441760401

so you are feeding your pup a food where the main two of three first ingredients is corn??? Which has basically NO nutritional value (aka: filler)!! Dogs are carnivores... feed them something with meat in it... not corn.

seen real good results with goat's milk and fresh beef or you can buy the beef that's not for human consumption. they sale it with coal in it. but if you have a freezer and access to cattle (my buddy's grandpa had a deal were anytime a cow went down if they let him know with in a couple of hours he would run and pick it up,it sucked to butcher them but the fresh beef worked well) it was a lot of work, that's why he finally switched to just buying the wholesale beef. but all these dog's were in good shape all the time. and the goat's milk worked real well for the puppy's. even one's that looked like they wouldn't make it,i would bring them home and bottle feed them and they would usually turn out fine.
