Last part in a way. Dropped off my hog Deer antlers at the taxidermist. He had a pair of 24 inch grants horns and its cape for full body. The original person who shot it died. Let me get this straight... You bought someone else's kill for $2000????????????????? Hey...let me know when you want something else. I will be glad to let my kids go out on our place and hunt something for you.

I honestly feel shitty right now. Its a full body mount.
The reason was because I could not find any respectable Grants in Texas. They are my favorite antelope. My dad decided at first to buy it because he didn't want to spend 10,000 on a 24 inch grants one guy had to hunt. I felt kind of iffy on getting an animal I have no feeling with if you want to call it that in a way. Now, after getting it, an animal i have been pursuing for 4 years of my life, the after my dad paid for it. I talked to mr. Robert stuart and asked him for laughs about grants. He said he has a 27 inches. Something that made me salvatate in delight. Asked him how much he said $6500. Within my parents spending range. But dad says no because he said I already have a grants. :,(

Should I sell the dang thing when it's done? You may get very lucky and someone else will buy it but I doubt it. I would look to see if you can donate it and get yourself some kind of tax deduction for it or something like that...I dont know.

Even if I can't, how do I talk my dad into hunting for a Grant's? YOU DONT! You wait until you have saved up enough money yourself and pay for the hunt and the taxidermy out of your own pocket. That way you will appreciate it more.

AMEN CURTIS! It has always been to my best judgment the things you pay for are always the things you treasure the most.

Who cares what you paid for it. If it sang to you, you wanted it, and you like the way you got to choose to mount it, and it fits in your decor, look at it like buying a one of a kind painting. It is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it. It can represent that one your going to shoot one day.
There was a rocky mountain bighorn sheep mount posted for sale on the forum back in April. A nice one too. That is a hunt I can only dream about and would never be able to afford. It sold for like $500. It sure would have looked good in my home office. Looking back, I probably should have bought it.

I will give you some advice. From what I can tell you are a younger hunter and have done some very good hunts already and seem to be looking at doing a lot more (Sitatunga, Hog Deer, Gazelle, ect.) Lots of these animals that you have done hunts for are out of reach of a lot of guys. I assume that your family is financially better off than most, I have no problem with that and am glad for you. However, I think that you have missed a big part of hunting. Hunting is not just putting animals on a wall... it is experiences and satisfaction that you have worked for an animal. For some hunts that may mean hunting a particular buck back home for weeks, months, or years at a time, or it may mean working extra hours for a year or two to pay for a dream hunt for a desired species. Either way this is hunting. I think that for you, you need to experience working for you trophies one way or another. I say this because, it seems you are so concerned with crossing a animal off your list that it doesnt even matter if it is yours or not. I hope you get to do many of your dream hunts, but I also hope you get to appreciate the satisfaction of knowing that you did it, and no one else.

Thanks. Honestly this is the only thing I haven't hunted that I have on my wall. My parents are probably going to Texas in spring. So I can hunt my grants.

We hunt because it is refreshing for the soul.
If you hunt to put animals in a book or on the wall you are a collector not a hunter.
If you hunt to shoot animals at long distance, then you are a shooter not a hunter.
I love animals on my wall, I love to eat game meat, and I like shooting them, at the end of the day it's awesome when I get an animal and sometimes just as wonderful when I don't.
It's called hunting, not shooting, collecting or going to the butcher shop. Failure is meant to be part of the equation fairly often.
