I have these old shotgun shells and their original packaging. Am curious to their value as collectibles? The Rem Express (5) and Peters (2) are full boxes, The Win SS box contains ten shells. The remaining loose shells consist of what you see. I would be interested in selling if they are of value or trade / patial trade towards a quality .22 rifle for a Christmas gift for my 13 yr old. No advice? Are these trash or treasure? I've kept them a long time to just throw them out.

Over on another board. The same question came up on some really old 357mag.
It got about as many answers as you have. List them on TGT. Say for $50 a box. If there is someone that wants the stuff, theyll be hot to either try and get you to come down....or buy the whole lot.
Check GunsAmerica and gun broker. See if anybody is selling close to the same thing.
Those shells would really set off a really nice gun cab.

Keep the shells and put the empty boxes up on eBay or Gunbroker. Some of those old boxes sell for a fortune.
Old age ain't for sissies!

Any interest before I list these somewhere else? If so, make an offer. Not looking to get rich, these are taking up closet space.
Any concerns with shipping live ammo?

Live ammo, no. Primers and powder are considered hazardus materials and require a hazard fee. Complete ammo is not.
I've heard the boxes are worth something and the ammo isn't.

I have a box of 410 that was left over from my g-g'pa. They are probably from the 40-50's. Wax paper shells! I was also curious of their value.

I am by no means a expert on collector ammo but I have bought a few boxes of old ammo over the years for decoration. I can tell you that the old Peters box with the duck on it is worth the most.
I am not going to try and put a price on it based on its current condition but I have seen them sell in the $50 range for ones in excellent condition in the more rare gauges like the 410 and 16.
The Remington boxes in the top pic are not worth all that much. I picked up some boxes just like that in 12 gauge buck shot for $5 a box a few years ago in almost new condition. I really bought them for the shells rather than the box but I thought they were cool so I used them in my old ammo display.

It varies a lot. i've had some at gunshows that sold well for $10 box, and some of the more rare boxes on epay will go astronomical! But knowledge of what you have is key. Full boxes normally go better for gun guys, but non gun people who just want something to put on a shelf will pay for the empty boxes sometimes.
Best bet? Set up at a gunshow, price it a little above what you want to be able go deal a little, and have fun!
In God we trust, all others get run through TCIC. Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Lack of Planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

I sent pics of mine to a broker and happened to find out these combined are worth right under $4k combined... I then bought some acryllic cases for them to go in. The Peters shotshell box the broker has never seen. He said it would fetch around $1500. These were almost thrown away by a neighbor, my dad luckily saved them and gave them to me for decoration about 5 yrs ago. here are some crappy pics I found... ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii190/lglidewell10/Shotshells2.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii190/lglidewell10/Shotshell1.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii190/lglidewell10/Shotshells3.jpg)
