one that will come hunt you down just to see if you would feed it like it's used to is kind of a turn-off for me on some of those released deer.

Nogalus- not fair chase? Sitting over a feeder that the deer have learned to come to is not exactly fair chase. I'm not knocking it, but it's not exactly difficult hunting.

ive killed some big free range axis, axis dont do a thing for me, you see one you seen them all, damn goats is all they are.
i want a big free range whitetail, still havent got one though.

That's funny I've got skunked more on HF ranches then I have public

When the deer don't have to be there, that's hunting. Some places easier than others? Yes. But still hunting.
When they are trapped, that's shooting.
Again, ask B&C or P&Y.

The irony is that so many use HF manipulation in a quest for "book" deer that cannot be put in the book. Hmmmm....

Oh, for the haters, and the hf not accepted in the books, well there is a new game in town, sad but true. Here is the gig.

Lf ranch, build a hf soft release pen in the center. Acclimate and release pen raised bucks, charge huge dollars for a free range, fair chase, lf booner.

LF, but very, very wrong. Trust me, this is happening.

Yes it is. Have friends who have sold breeder bucks to such ranches.

Yep it is and I have seen it first hand. I think its genius as some of these guys will fall for it and still argue about all this HF LF crap.

Sorry but you guys show it every time a big deer gets posted on this site... Bet that cost some money!!!! Or HF???? Or wish I had 25k to spend on a deer......

Again why do you care about deer on a property your never going to hunt or hunt that borders it?

Why do you care if they are slowing down dispersal in and out of their ranch.... You have deer on your land that are no longer venturing into theirs as much?

2 weeks ago i was working on a house down in cotulla tx, guy had 25 acres half of one side was a high fenced ranch. pipline is, was coming through both properties. coyotes hauling illegals were being chased by po po and came flying down the pipeline and took out the high fence pipeline gates, 3 days later they were still down guy said he lost some high priced deer. i hunted one morning and took a doe, she was with another doe that had a green tag in her ear. i was hoping for one of them high dollar deer, hehe.

So why question is a deer only counts if B&C or P&Y count it. That kinda back tracks on why we are ALL out there

Love the b&c p&y reference. I bet they don't exist in ten years.... I measured probably 10 lf book deer that will never see the books... Some think it's stupid to pay to have your name in a book...kind of like "who's who"... Then there is the outiffer shoppers looking for land to lease from out from under you....and the fun media!!!

I have to disagree, they will stay around becaue it's a measuring contest... kind of like the big buck contests all around the nation.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part... But wish they would go away

^^^^^ This is exactly why I object to HF.
Since I don't have millions of dollars, or have the luxury of inheriting thousands of acres - it's a bad decision for me to buy a house on a couple hundred acres with intent of hunting it?
And since I don't have thousands of acres, the larger ranches will assume that I am killing "their" deer, so they just high-fence it rendering the majority of my property useless.

Bobo you dang good and well there are very few if any fences up in our part of the world. My family has made a living busting ground up there for well over a century and we have somehow manged without a high fence protecting our fields. Matter of fact, I cant remember ever seeing fences surrounding farm ground in Ks, Ok panhandle or texas panhandle

if you value it solely on deer hunting yes, if you value it for other reasons and deer are a plus you can live without, no.

If you will be pissed about how your neighbor hunts or fences or raises pigs or paints his house orange do not buy or your setting up for disappointment,
