Unfortunately this guy is safe in my backyard and not at the lease. He and two other bucks were out at 9 AM yesterday and not worried about anything but the doe they were with. Picture is from the west side of Leander right near the Travis/Williamson county border.

I'm still learning to judge age and quality and figured this buck would be a good one to give me an idea from what the experts here say.

huge. i hunt Travis county also and it is amazing how big some of those guys can get when they get old enough. i have a 10 pt not quite as big as that and i only have it on camera at night. those guys get really smart and surprised you got this pic.

I'll say 130 and a fully mature buck.

That's a hoss of an 8 point. I'm going to say 4.5 - 5.5 and 142-146. I'm no expert though. A deer like that would really tempt me to put a bow stand in the back yard.

4.5 and 150 for sure, I just shot a 138 and change 8 last week and this one eats mine up.

I think its a good bit bigger than your deer caldwell, look atn his beams and tine lenght but your mass is better.

135-140 at least. He sure looks old in that 3rd picture. I say at least 5.5. Gorgeous deer!

ah crap dude, can you learn to shoot a bow really quick? That is one nice buck. Holy cow. I would say about 4.5 and 140 class.

140's and he doesn't need a bow, all he needs is a silencer and it is perfectly legal(except for maybe neighborhood or HOA rules that might frown upon it). Just get you stamp and you can mail him a bullet.

I'd say he's in the upper 140's. Get a crossbow, little less expensive than a silencer, LoL.

That buck is 145, minimum. G2s are at least 12 inches. Right brow tine looks to be close to 6". Main beams all the way out to his nose. Tip to tip spread and inside/outside spread will be big numbers (man, those spread numbers add up if the deer's got 'em). The only thing he doesn't have is big mass. I'd get a crossbow real fast and find out for sure just exactly what he'd score.

Thanks for the comments guys. Looks like the consensus is 4.5 or 5.5 and 145-150. I'd love to take a buck like that. Kind of frustrating seeing a deer like that at home and hardly anything at the lease!

That said I won't be getting a crossbow, he'll stay safe as long as he doesn't leave the neighborhood. Hope to get to see what he looks like next year.
