I was asking about how he was facing because I was curious if there was bullet drift, obviously you just make a heck of a shot. I've never scoped a deer at 550 yards, are the crosshairs the same size the deer is at that range?

He has quartering towards me and the hole is just in front of the shoulder. I have a Leupold scope. The only scopes I will use. Why Leupold? They are way over rated. So many other better choices for the money. And I will go ahead and say what everyone else wants to say. BS. Not saying you didnt do it , but if you did , shame on you. A deer at 550 yards facing you? Come on Jackie as a long range shooter you should know better.

Congrats You shot a couple of really nice bucks IMO. My farthest shot is 365 yards but that was many many years ago when I could hold a lot steadier than I can now. Congrats on your shots.

Nice deer and nice shots! If you are familiar enough with your gun and the loads you are using then there is nothing wrong with taking these shots.

Hell I can drive 125 mph thru town and not get caught but I dont do it. To each their own, I am sorry I said any thing. We are all suppose to support each other. Sometimes I forget.

Everyone has an opinion, mule deer hunting in far West Texas does not always allow for feeder type shots. Not saying its always ok but in certain situations, if your comfortable and have practiced then I say take it.
