Has anyone ever hunted the King Ranch with one of the guides? If you have I'd like to hear about your experience. I know they lease the majority of it but also offer hunts for trophy management and culls. Is it even possible to obtain a slot?

It is possible to get a spot to hunt with plenty of this $$$$$$$$. I hunt on a ranch that has 2 miles of King Ranch fence line and there are some monsters that come out of there.

Doesn't look any more expensive than the the prices that are being posted.

I've been fortunate enough to Hunt the King with a friend in HS. It is a pretty fantastic hunt, and a cool ranch to hunt on purely because of the history. Thinking about how big that ranch used to be is mind boggling. It is a true South Texas style hunt. If that is what you are looking for I'd say go for it.

Crazy insane for a hunting lease in that area. The ranch that I hunt on is over $5,000 a gun! Thank god that I don't have to pay it. Business expense, know what I mean. I saw a ad for hunting on a ranch near us and it was $16,000 per spot for the season. I will see if I can find something about the King Ranch hunts for you.

Thanks but they do have a website with pricing. I'm not looking for a lease but a 2-3 day hunt, just want to see if anyone has ever done this type of hunt with them.

I have hunted the king ranch and you can expect to spend about $10,000 dollars for an average buck, they don't call it the KING ranch for nothing! The guides are awesome but don't tolerate idiots, if your a novice hunter you better let them know ahead of time or you can expect to get an earful. And DON'T try to tell them how to do their job, they will drive you to the front gate and drop you off. Oh and god forbid you shoot the wrong deer! It could wind up costing you an extra $10,000 dollars in penalties! Better read the fine print before you sign anything.....

Sounds like it left a bad taste in your mouth. As for the website that I seen it doesnt look to cost as much as you said, unless there is a s**! pot load of hidden fees. They even had a youth weekend hunt with kids shooting does and culls. Ill have to do some more digging.

Haven't hunted it for deer but have for nilgi and quail. Wasn't on my dime though.

Hell just driving and in a high rack with a camera is awesome

Didnt leave a sour taste in my mouth as I worth for a coule of different hunting shows and I get to hunt for free wink I just know that one of the deer hunters at the ranch when I was there 2 years ago had to write a check for 15 thousand dollars as his deer green scored at 178 and there are stiff trophy fees for every inch over 150 when they score your deer....

Probably not as most of them are privately owned and not commercially hunted.

I stumbled across this thread and thought I'd see if anybody has an update or if someone else has been. I'm considering looking into hunting the King.

I would say 99% is a stretch.

maybe the top tier ranches in a certain area, but not in the state of texas

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
