This has been one of the Best openers we have had as of yet!

In the last 4 days we have harvested close to 150 birds already.

Mainly Gadwall, Widgeon, teal, and some Redheads...(of course a few ringers, and some Pintails, and a few mallards)

If we get a little wind we will be in business as the last two days have been a little difficult!

Looks like Thursday-Monday the wind will pick up to double digits. Glad it's going well so far. Might have to make a trip up there this year.

Kelly took out Stephen and Jeremy This morning and they had all kinds of birds up close and personal!

Got after them again this morning...

Thought there would be more moving...was kinda suprised at the lack of migrants!

But we still did pretty well knocking down several limits of birds!

Started the morning with a nice flock of Gadwalls, (there was about 20, but I could only get pic's of the side of the flock)



We then had a few small groups and some singles and pairs...

Then these two Bluebills came in and here is a picture of "swing and a miss"

Hey JJ did Nate Nelson make it?? we shot geese down south yesterday he said he was headed your way.

Yeap, Nate, Zane, Evan and Chad made it up to hunt this morning!

I will say that it was a pleasure to meet Nate and felt privileged to take his son on his first duck hunt!

We had a GREAT time and there was plenty of jokes and laughing to be had in the blind!

Yesterday was a "Ball Buster" but today was different!!

Took Manny and Brian on their First duck hunt "Ever" and boy they are spoiled!!!!!!

Literally had close to 700 birds hit the decoys! FREEKING awesome!

Had Jason come up for his First Duck hunt "ever" this morning!

Very nice morning in the blind...wish we had had more wind, but oh well...

Had several early flights of birds, then had roughly seven or so flights of Gadwalls work us...

Jason got to see birds work, commit and back wing in the spread...

Bo got to stretch his legs a little and we all had some fun!

Looks like we got another addict to the duck hunting world!

Had Ross off the THF come over from Lubbock to hunt for a couple of days...

Today he hunted with me and I got to see him run his dog Scout!

Kelly took 3 guys out on their first duck hunt yesterday and they had a GREAT time:

Then today Kelly took a group of 7 and I had Landon (THF'r) come and hunt with me solo...

Landon and I limited out in about 10 minutes or less on Teal, Gadwalls, a Mallard Drake and a Boot-lip!



Kelly's group had a spectacle of birds...and they were done by 8:00. Basically our two groups took 9 limits of birds (54) before 8:00 this morning!

Sunday we had mixed results with our groups...was a struggle in some places and did okay in others...

We really need some weather to push some new birds in!

Still managed to harvest 32 birds!

Today I had Matt and his two sons join me in the blind! We had a GREAT time and his youngest started the morning off with a double with one shot!

Looks like the weather is going to be stagnant through the end of the first split!

That's a big blind.

Did you take a mortgage on that blind?

Dang it, you could have killed 2 yotes in one shot through his snout hitting the second one in his BEHIND!!!!!!

He could rent that out in the offseason as an efficiency apartment to make some additional cash. Add electricity and a TV and it would be an easy $500 a month extra income.

Well, Hot temps and NO wind make for tough hunts....

But we were still able to pick away at them this morning.

This was Deron's first duck hunt, and I think we hooked another!

He went 1 for 1 on the first three birds of the morning!

Had a GREAT time, and he is eager to get back up here and do it again!!!

Today I had Andrew Leach come up from Houston to hunt with me and man what a GREAT time we had!

This is about the coolest thing I have seen in a while...a Red Tail hawk took out one of my pintail decoys...

Reminds me of the time one tried to take off with one of our dead.

That hawk attack thing happened to me once years ago. Amazing pictures and that tells me you guys were very nicely concealed.

Went to (Quackinators) Philip's funeral today but before I went I hit a small pond for 30 minutes.

Just me, my dog and some decoys that he had given me.

Fired 6 rounds and took six birds.

Today I had Kyle and Haley (12 Year Old) come up and hunt with me for the second annual early season hunt.

Goal was to get Haley her limit then go from there.

I am proud to say, she shot 4 birds in the air and water swatted the other 2!

She had moved up to a 12 gauge and she did just fine!!

Had roughly 50 birds hit the decoys at 10-15 minutes before Legal...

Too bad the other guys hunting around us didn't understand that there is such a thing!?!?!?!?!?

They were shooting 15 minutes + before LST!

Anyways...had a GREAT time and look forward to Kyle and Haley coming back next split!

For me a few weeks of rest and then back at it!

Looking forward to some rain and some cold weather!

Agreed, our group that hunted Bonham had the same thing! Others in the area opened 20 minutes early! Its irratating to no end to have to explain to paying customers that we are LEGAL and we WILL wait for LST while the "other" guys are pounding away for 20 minutes while we have birds hitting decoys and patiently wait for TWENTY minutes to pass before we shoot, and when that time comes, most of the birds have left the decoys and there is a lack of birds after that!

All falls on the ethics of what you want.

For me and my guides we are legal and will follow the rules and law as close to the "T" as possible.

Shooting 15 + minutes before LST, is blatant disregard for the law!
