Below average......didn't even see one deer or hog. Sunday afternoon my Father-n-law sat the stand that I sat Saturday morning. Had a nice 10 come in but couldn't get a shot on him before he was out of sight. Maybe next weekend will be a little better.....

Saw two bucks...missed the one I shot at...but as long as I'm seeing them, I count it as a win. And usually just being out there with my dad and son counts for a big part of a good time. But the bad news is that the landowner hasn't come through for us and the outdoor time was a struggle. The water faucet was leaking everywhere which caused the grandmother who lives there to get on to my dad and turn off the water, the electric pole the landowner put up is in the wrong place, so the electricity isn't hooked up, and none of the area has been mowed so we had to hand cut all of the broom-weed in camp. But I bet if I wouldn't have missed that big buck, I'd be a lot more forgiving about the amenities!

Below average, my brother had 4 deer come in behind him saturday afternoon, one being a big eight w/ a drop tine, we have been seeing on camera, two smaller bucks, could really tell size on, and a doe, the two smaller bucks were with the doe, the big boy came in bout 30 mins later alone.... but they followed the truck trail in, and went into the brushy woods beside him, let tthem pass him, and got a little rise out of em by grunting and snort weezing, but they never would come to the pipeline..... for a shot... could never see them great threw the brush for any kind of shot, they were focused on i guess acorns in the woods? I my self did not see anything, and it was just not cold enough to me to really have them out and moving

Seen a couple small 8's and a handful of does, too hot, too bright of a moon and too much for them to eat. All of the better bucks are coming in through out the night. Hopefully a freeze and a change in the moon in the next few weeks will pick things up!

Opening day was beautiful but didn't see a single deer.

Well, I'm sure there are a lot of you like me who look at the current results of this poll and feel a little better about the overall state of the deering hunting in your area. With just over 70% of you reporting a below average or worst opening weekend ever, it's obvious that most of us didn't see many deer this past weekend, much less take one.

But as always, congratulations to those who did.

I had to vote best ever but for a different reason. Didn't have any expectations of seeing anything at our place, but my youngest daughter got to go with me for the first time. She got to sit with me when I shot a spike and she was so excited to go look for it and had to almost hold her down to keep her in the blind. She's a great blood hound, when I finally let her off the leash she took off and I had to hollar at her to get her to stop as she was about 50 yards from an 8 pt buck that was staring a hole thru her. After we let the buck walk on off my daughter resumed looking for the spike and she tracked him down in the creek bed. She was pumped and so was I. Ready to go back.

Now if my daughter hadn't been with me I might have voted for above average as everybody saw more deer than we were expecting and one guy got a nice 9 pt. Most of the deer we had seen on camera were at night.

I've heard the same thing from several others. The warm days and moon-lit nights are probably encouraging them to move more after dark. The ones I've spoken with report their cameras catching them moving very early (2am-3am) in the morning. And there's plenty of browse to keep them close to their beds during the day.

I don't know how much longer I can take the frustration of huntin' in Tyler Co. Thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of work....all for lookin' @ woodpeckers and squirrels. Only 1 deer taken off 2,000 acres the whole weekend.

All I know is thank god I hunted bow season and that I have cameras on my feeders or after what i saw this weekend I'd have said my new lease sucks...........but I know what's really out there! Just gotta get em moving around during daylight and eating the corn again! Next week has promise for cooler temps and a new moon so well see.

Terrible again in Mills, Williamson, Bell, Coryell and Lampasas counties. 29 family and friends on these ranches and no harvest. One spike seen and a few does, no buck even close to AR's seen. How many years have AR's been in place??? Not working

I have to say best ever. Saw several doe, one spike, one cull, a five point and an eight Saturday. Took a good 11 Sunday morning that I've been watching for a few weeks. Does all feeding on acorns and Rye grass. All but one of the bucks were running the does.
Sunday evening was the icing on the cake, took my 3 1/2 year old grandson deer hunting for the first time. He had his pop gun and I carried a BB gun for back up. We walked around the place for over two hours stopping and sitting now and again. He never quit talking the whole time and "shot" every squirrel, bird and deer in the County. He pointed out every track, rub and every pile of cow poop at the top of his lungs. Going to have to reload his pop gun and take him again next weekend.

Hunted public land and seen two by 9:30 of which one went into the freezer. There was also another deer shot just up the ridge from where I was hunting. I can't say mine was a wall hanger by any means but with for opening day on public not a bad day at all.

I voted best ever. Shot a big doe Sunday morning just at shooting light and left her as a decoy. 15 minutes later a NICE 10 point came running out and started sniffing her, tipped him over. Went back that evening and shot another big doe. Right after that a coyote came running to get my doe. Tipped him over. I'm not getting alot of hunting time this year so I took every advantage I could to fill the freezer up!

Bad...lots of food around so deer don't need the corn, warm weather so they are less active, no signs of a rut to get the bucks excited.

You'd think after 6-8 years of antler restrictions, there'd be brutes walking everywhere?
