Haul one on our flatbed f450 but id still rather haul on a trailor There's a little more to it than how I rather haul mine. I keep mine in my garage. I live in a restricted subdivision, and can't keep a trailer on my lot. I wouldn't want a trailer junking up my yard, even if I could.

Its no more top heavy than a in the bed camper!
I put between 2500 2700 lbs of feed in the bed of a half ton pretty regularly and drove from SA to Hebronville without any trouble at all.
My concern would be having it ride on the bed rails. With the quality of todays sheet metal, you may want to find a way for it to get to the frame.
matt The design I have in my head would have two "skids" that sit in the bed to support at least half of the weight. This will be a lot easier if someone steps up to be the lab rat for me, I don't have a UTV to haul!

Well why not make the platform sit inside the bed but above the wheel wells? That extra 18"-24" inches would make it a heck of alot safer.

I'm not sure that would be wide enough, and there is nothing unsafe about hauling like this if it is done right. Unfavorable, maybe, but unsafe if you strap it down correctly and drive how you should, absolutely not.

You can drive the front wheels of your UTV over the wheel wells. I don't understand how you guys plan to load your UTV onto a platform. I can and have loaded mine from my concrete driveway, but I generally look for a little depression or ditch for my back tires on my pickup.

Bill, not all UTVs will fit in the bed of a pickup. Rangers come in at right around 60" wide. Add in any aftermarket rims and tires or a long travel kit and there's no way it will fit.
