My dogs ride in the back of the truck...no kennel unless going somewhere that they might need to be in it.
Having your dog hanging out in the bed of your truck ups your cool factor by about 20 lol until the dog gets a "wild hair" and decides to jump out of the truck, and gets hurt. Ask Jeff Elder on this forum. I believe he had a dog jump off a flat bed one time(hence the ONE time)... I cringe every time I see one loose back there. I've seen the result of an overzealous dog who for one fateful moment acted on impulse. Heck, doesn't even take action on the dog's part all the time... a swerve, sudden pitch, idiot driver that careens into you... *shudder.* Sadly, I've heard from folks who'd gotten their dogs from me and who had them come out of the back of their pick-up. I can't tell you how many nights I laid in bed beating myself up for placing a dog in a situation where such a fate awaited him.

In the kennel, always in the kennel. The only exception is when we're at the farm moving from one area to the other. If it's very far I put the tailgate down and let them ride in the back.

You're right. People make their own choices on where they ride. Dogs rely on humans to put them in safe situations.

I also hate to see pups in the back of a truck. Especially when you see them on a flat bed rig. Kennel them up or put a seat cover in your back seat...

mine rides in the back seat and he lays down he never rides in the back of the truck. he earned his spot up front with me and as long as he stays quiet in the back seat he should have no problem, only way i could see him getting put in the back in the kennel would be if the truck is full(which rarley happens) that would be the only reason.... Front seat. Unless he is really mucky and nasty then it is in the kennel. After a hunt he enjoys napping on the way home.

If you took a chance with your own saftey that's one thing or maybe a person who accepted what yourre doing but yes its just a dog and doesn't know any better. You do and still take the chance.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

Always up front.. He leans up against me when he's in the middle seat..
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

You are just like your dad, Brandon A, ALWAYS PLAYING THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE!! Ya'll ALWAYS like a lively "discussion" about everything! You have a kennel for your new puppy you're getting to keep it safe and have other things you have bought for that special little one! That pup will live the privileged and safe life like no other! It's a dog...not a person.

Both my dogs ride in the back and they LOVE it, guesse the love the feel of the wind. Never had any problems but that is on small town roads, I put them in the cab if we are going somewhere congested. It just depends on where we are at.

Usually let mine stay in the kennel in the back on the way to the hunt. Lets her relax a little more on the way. On the way back, granted she is clean and the road conditions are good, she gets up front with me. Mines like Bill up there, she loves laying out in the seats after a good hunt.

Around the neighborhood, vet, store-back seat usually.
Long trip- dog box in back of truck.
