If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Very cool pics. Definitely the same buck. Looks like he had a stick jabbed into him.
He's definitely got a cool set of antlers growing this year.

this pic is from later that morning, whatever it is that was sticking is gone, and i had pics from him on the night of the 19th when it wasnt showing either. the wound was there in december, that thing was only sticking out of it for those few hours on 1/20...

Cool deer. I wonder what that was sticking out of him. Maybe a little tree branch?

Those are really cool photos. I thought it looked like a stick or something. I don't see it being an arrow, and given the dates, it wouldn't really make sense, but possible.
Glad he survived!
Question, do people see the velvet come off and show just regular points under that velvet palmation...meaning, does the velvet ever act like a webbed finger or toe and actually make it look like it will be palmated but when the velvet comes off it will just be a regular looking rack?
Just curious...

looks like a stick to me also. Thats a crazy difference from last year. I wonder if the stick had anyhting to do with it. I have killed deer that have been hung in fences and got loose. The following year one side of their horns would be non-typical.

I shot a buck with a 30-30 one year. Bullet went in right shoulder quartering away and did not fall. Did not find the buck. Next year, I shot the buck, fell dead. It too had a non-typical rack on the left side. Ol' wise man told me that the bucks horns will be affected on the opposite side of trauma. I believe him.

Rear leg injury will affect opposite side antler growth. Front leg injury will affect same side antler growth.
