Everyone is talking about kids having to pay at a certain age. What if the kid is the paying customer and wants to let his father shoot his deer? Does that change your view on the rule?

Those were the guidelines of my generation and the one before mine. You were taught to become independent of your parents whether you liked it or not. And living at home was not an option.

With that in mind, I can see why many today would want their adult kids to get a free ride off their parent's membership and quota since so many are still living with them. I didn't deer hunt in Texas when I first arrived just out of college because I couldn't afford it. And my parents lived 600 miles away. Those two facts became drivers behind the decisions that got me to where I am today.

"Because you are not going to live here!"

On our lease, the rule is that your guest, no matter what relation, shoot off your qouta. Unless you want to pay for a guest spot.

Our lease is paid primarily by my company. Which is me and my dad. We purchase one extra spot for a guest/client. Although we are in a 5 deer county our area cannot support it. So we continue to use the two buck, one doe rules. With that said, we don't have enough guests shoot deer that it has ever been a problem. But that spot is ONLY for clients. When I bring my son, he has to shoot off my qouta.

I think it really depends on deer population, management, and the emotional climate of your hunting camp.
