Ok I have an idea to add to the uber feeder...
How about a solar electric fence charger wired to a varmint cage on the bottom of my plastic barrel so when Mr. Coon reaches from the pole to the cage he gets a jolt he won't soon forget... I would drive a ground rod for each leg just to make sure he gets fried crispy...

What do you guys think

'Ground rod(s)' won't be needed, as the leg(s) itself will be the 'ground' part of the circuit, with the cage the 'positive' ; just use some bare wire to 'tie' all three legs together (towards top near barrel).

Ground rods would be just for assurance of a good ground bed around the feeder(not necessary but this feeder already screams overkill) I will also bond the the legs together as you described...

Too much work. I took a old shopping cart, minus cart and handle, tacked to the feeder, then tacked a bolt on each side at back by rear swinging panel for access. Works great and cost nothing but time. Work smart not hard.

Sounds like anti fuel to me. Not a bad idea though. But why do that when you could get snipers, drones, and viper pits?

Ok, I thought your intent was to shock the little sucker to death. Still be careful with that though, it could cause another anti outbreak.

American Hunter sold a feeder unit with the "electric fence" as a varmit cage.

It will feed, a lot of corn will be right under that feeder but some will be unaffected by the coon guard.

That is probably the strongest varmint cage I have seen up

there is a website where you can order feeder lids from made out of metal.. order a 25 in lid which the tank is 24.5 in and weldeed two tabs on it and use a strap to make sure nothing can blow or knock the lid off.. been out there for a month and we have had a few storms and no issues yet.. i also welded a solar pannel on it as well.

This is a feeder from Academy and took re-bar and made my own.

Keep the coons out.

I've seen those. Do they work well? How do you bait those?

Guys I was having hell with the coons a year ago. I was losing 300 #'s in a week or two with varmint guards on my feeders. What I realized is that the guard doesn't do anything but give them something to hold on to.

My solution was to go to hanging feeders with winches. Since I have switched I have only ever seen one coon actually make it to the timer, but since there isn't much to hold onto he fell right off. You will pay for the feeder in one year with the corn you save if you make the switch.

The Duke traps work great as an added measure to control coon population.
