Im looking for ideas for a cleaning station. Anyone have any pictures of a good one made out of metal? Looking for something that can hold 1000's of pounds.

I make game hoist and while I cannot help you with the 1000's of pounds aspect I recently provided a customer with a piece of 2 3/8" pipe that he sunk into the ground. The upper end of my game hoist fits into it perfectly, now he still has the portability of the game hoist in the field and a cleaning station back at camp. This may give you some ideas.

We have trailer hitch hoist's and had a smaller A frame style hoist with 2 hoists on it. I'm wanting to make one that can hold 4 animals. I want to be able to lift oryx, gems, buffalo, elk. I'm just short of ideas at the moment.

We built on at a buddies lodge in Colorado that will hold 4 Elk (gutted) Sunk 2 telephone poles as deep as we could, maybe 5', then added a "guy" wire from each in apposing directions. I welded a "Trestle" that bolted to the top and on one place on the side of each pole. then added 4 , 1500# chain hoist. works great.
It is a bit over 12' wide trestle I used 3"x3" sq tubing, then welded, several "U"'s out of 3/4 sucker rod.
If at first you dont succeed, then skydiving is not for you..

How handy are you with a stick welder and what do you expect to lift with? Believe I have a design that would work well and be cheap. I built this as a light weight target stand. If you made the corner pieces out of 2 7/8ths the ran the cross bar with 2 3/8ths drill stem it should hold whatever you want to throw at it. Your legs could be as long as you want by cutting drill stem to length. You are basically building a crazy heavy duty school yard swing set. If you welded a crank to a leg and a heavy duty pulley up top you could crank up whatever you need. Mount a pulley to a gambrel and you have the ease of lift. You could make the top bar wider to hold 4 deer but not sure how to lift 4 deer across it. This is the top of a feeder I built out of the larger drill stem. If you welded those pipes together in the same design as that target I think youd be in business real cheap.

Thanks Michael and as you and the split hunter mention I like square tubbing but when the uotdoors starts mentioning lifting oryx, gems, buffalo, elk that sounds to me like an appication for pipe and I mean 4" at a men minimum. If you are talking hanging several animals of that size at the same time the size needs to increase of course. The phone pole idea is good or use steel pipe, just make sure the pillars are deep enough, you have enough out of the ground. Michael check out my facebook page you may want to do that with you hoist.

I couldnt imagine not being able to lift whatever you want with something built from drill stem. Especially if you went with 3" the much more difficult is finding a winch capable of lifting.

We are about to build one. Wasnt really wanting a A frame but I guess thats what we are going with. I want to be able to put it on a trailer if we need to. A couple parts have not came in yet but everything is rated for a minimum of 1200 pounds. 4 Automatic brake winches,4 25 ft cables, 4 gambrels, pile of pulleys and carabiners so if something needs to be replaced it can be.

we made ours out of old drill stem pipe and made an a frame with it and have 2 electric winches. Never had a problem lifting oryx red deer with it. I would stick with pipe. It's cheaper than sq. tube. at least around my area.

I've got a picture of one somewhere that might work for you. I will try to remember to look it up when I return home.

For some reason i never took a full pic of the cleaning station haha. But if you can imagine those galvinized legs going up then a giant Ibeam going across the middle with a 2500lb winch bolted on the bottom of it. Also if you have never used a capping rack they are worth building Heres the pic...just take 2 4ft long sections of Cperlin or any flat metal and put them in a V with legs under them
