One of the guys on our lease had a feeder malfunction. I had gone to put a new battery on it for him but when I got there I saw this. I'm assuming the weak battery caused the motor to just keep running once it triggered. Unfortunately it ran long enough to empty a 85 gallon feeder barrel that has just been filled a few days earlier with 500 pounds of corn. Worst part was it had just got soaked with an inch or two of rain so there was no saving it!

That sucks, had that happen about a week after filling a 300lb feeder. The Timer had shorted hook up a battery and it would spin. that was the last of the expensive "The Timer" controllers I have used.

Everyone on my lease makes fun of my "expensive" taste on power control units and timers. Looks like $100 worth of corn (if you were lucky), wasted time, adding to your hog problem, hell of a mess and you still need an HCR timer.

Had my BinL's feeder dump 300lbs once. We're thinking a coon tilted the motor box just enough.........

I would certainly figure out what actually happened and not just assume it was a weak battery. That seems like a lot of spining for a weak battery. Not sure what kind of spinner you have on there but I have had a strong wind spin my spinner plate and empty a feeder more than once. For those that think Im crazy, I have driven up twice to see it happening.

Wind can definitely do that....you might want to get a gated plate.

Thats a lot of cash on the ground....might as well turn it into some bacon.... food

That sucks hopefully a new plate or feeder fixes the problem. Had my feeder dump corn on the ground after raccoons pulled at the plate and I was filling it last. Took a while to pick up 60-75lbs of corn, luckily it was during the drought not the monsoon of this past weekend.

Happened to me 8 or 9 years ago with a Magnum control unit. Corn was half the price of today though. OUCH!
