Ruger 338 Win Mag, or My sons Ruger 338 Win Mag rifle..the SS would shoot same hole 5 shot groups at 100 yds..Gave it to my nephew Jeff in Ak..Don

I traded for a Target model a few years ago. This shot group is 100 yards with Monarch Brass SP ammo.

BTW, my POA was 3:00 where white meets green. For me, it's much easier to shoot at the corners of a circle than shoot at the bull.

Never owned a Ranch Rifle, but had several plain Ruger Mini's.
They all functioned 100% and were fun to shoot. I shot store bought and I hand loaded on a single stage press.....
I was happy with it but liked the Mini 14 GB model better.

This is the only mini I've ever owned. They have a bad rep so I have to assume they've earned it somewhat over the years. I don't know what makes one shoot good and another shoot bad. Having owned a Target model, I don't think I'd care for one of the others. The BOSS type adjuster on the barrel is just short of miraculous when it comes to setting a good group up. It's heavy enough that I can set it in my shooting bag, get it on target, move out from behind it, and squeeze the round off. The rifle moves straight back about 1/4" from the recoil. With it shouldered, you don't really feel it. It's like a 22 on steroids.

In believe everybody that says theirs didn't shoot good. Mine just happens to shoot great.

I had a mini 30 my pops sold when I went off to college. I have to say it was a lot of fun to shoot while roaming around in the woods, but accuracy was terrible. I've got an M1A now as well and it's one of my favorites to shoot, it and my fn49. smile

Never met a Mini-14 or 30 that I liked. I've had a few, always was able to find a rifle that was more accurate for less money. Gave up on them a long time ago and see no reason to go back.

I wouldn't mind having one for my wife to play with, but like I said, wouldn't drop more than $400-$450 on one and probably wouldn't use it other than to shoot at the property.

Although those target rifle results are extremely nice. good shooting!

The 223 Ruger Ranch Rifle I had belonged to Butch the old now deceased gunsmith who was in Boerne..he tuned it and it would shoot about anything you could stick in it in an 1in group at 100
yds most all the time..I killed a lot of pigs with it..but I understand that a lot of folks have had problems with them..DD

I dont collect a large number of rifles, just a few that function well and are extremely accurate. My Ruger RR is easily at the top of my list.

What are the minis that you're supposed to stay away from? I.e. the 180 series or whatever.
