I have a Trapper that I really like for a walking around gun, it's very light and handy, plus it holds ten rounds of .44 Mag. I've always wanted to add some sort of sight on it to increase my intermediate accuracy, and I finally did a little bit of experimenting.
Mine is an Angle Eject model, which means it comes pre-drilled for scope mounts. I acquired a Weaver #94 base, which fits the front two holes over the barrel.
The mount gives you a little over an inch of clamping surface and one slot, which is all most new micro red dots need. I chose a Bushnell TR-25 for my rifle, only because the Primary Arms Micro Dot was out of stock at the time I ordered.
And this is what you get
It ain't pretty I know, but the total cost was $100 and it made my favorite levergun faster and more accurate. Some people think anything other than iron sights on a levergun is blasphemy, and I usually agree, but in some cases function trumps form. Range report to come this weekend.
