If you're hunting over feeding areas (as opposed to water holes), more hunters generally make for a better hunt, keeping the birds stirred up and circulating.
But I want to see hunters spaced at least 100 yards a part, preferably 150. Where you're out in field, as opposed to around a fence line, that can be as many as 1 hunter per 2 -3 acres. In those cases, I like to see folks required to put their gun down while retrieving birds. what if he flys up when you approach?

Let another hunter have it. Not worth accidentally shooting someone for a dove...

a bunch of dove hunters in a small field isn't a huge deal if you stick to some basics. put hunters on parameter at about 75 yards apart and don't shoot down fenceline and make sure some elevation to your shot. getting peppered isn't a big deal at 100+ yards, shot decelerates extremely quick. usually just a slight sting and red mark even at 80-100 yards direct, I wouldn't be happy and might even return the favor. I can't believe anyone ever complains on other side of field getting rained on by shot hundreds of yards away.
