I won't be buying one. Too much money, and doesn't do me any good. At the most, I'll be firing 5 shots at deer this year. If you want to, go for it. I honestly don't see the point either.

I dont see the point of a suppressor either. Why does it have to have a point? Why cant it be just because someone wants one? Why is it any of anyone business why someone wants something if its legal? Check my next post, if he wants to, go for it. I can hunt deer with an H&H 375 if I want, it's legal and no one can stop me, but don't see the point in that either. Cracks me up when people posts on a public forum and get their panties all bunched up when not EVERYONE agrees.

another reason i see suppressors being useful is to not scare deer off from neighboring hunters
One side note, NEVER put an armadillo in a paper feed bag.

To each their own. Too many other things that I would like to have that would be more useful. The constant ringing and saying "huh" doesn't bother me anymore anyway... Wonder if using suppressors will be considered "fair chase"

I won't be using a suppressed rifle anytime soon. I'll just stick to normal hearing protection and my same old rifle.

I think suppressors are for peole trying to compensate for the lack of something else.. I am not saying that a man does not have the right to high fence his land and do as he chooses. My thing is when the hunting community starts pointing the finger at each other over there beliefs in how hunting deer should be handled then that is where we loose as hunters all together. So who is right the meat hunter or the trophy hunter? Which one is wrong? just because someone wants to hunt for horns does not make them wrong and just because someone wants to hunt for meat it does not make them wrong either. It is when we argue amongst ourselves that is when we are wrong!

whats the point of using a suppressed firearm to hunt deer.....besides to poach? I can't believe that this is an actual, serious question....surely you are joking, right? I also think its dumb....and just going too far. Rifle hunting for deer has just feel out last few years What do you mean by "going too far"? In all honesty, if one was to poach, they'd be smart to use a bow rather than a suppressed rifle... Im not saying to far on poaching...im talkin bout the nature of the sport and what it has always been...

Rifles and scopes are too far, then, as well? I'm all for what helps gives me the cleanest and quickest kill.

In some countries it's a requirement due to the proximity of housing, livestock, etc. Unless it made a rifle quiet enough to shoot without protection, a can is just not worth the hassle to me, but for those that have them, good luck and good shooting come November!

Cracks me up when people posts on a public forum and get their panties all bunched up when not EVERYONE agrees. Or man up, get a bow and get close enough to smell their breath. A rifle is no challenge.

I didnt buy a suppressor to hunt deer. Bought it for hogs, predators, target. Help save my hearing. I've had tubes in my ears twice when younger and lost at least 20% of my hearing in one ear at a very young age. I never took hearing protection with me while hunting deer and deffinately not while stalking around. After unloading a 20 round clip on a pack of hogs your ears aren't doing so well. So any shot I take from now on while hunting will probably be suppressed since I have a can now. Some of u guys act like they cost so much and it's not worth it. It cost as much as a handgun and then pay a $200 stamp. I got my YHM 7.62 for $600 and it fits 4 of my rifles so far with a simple quick detach mount . So will I use it for deer? Why the hell not! One shot with no hearing protection can do major damage , so 800 bucks for a sweet toy that will possibly save my hearing and doctors bills is fine by me!
Plus Texas just legalized it for deer and oklahoma just legalized it for everything as u couldn't hunt coyotes or hogs with it before . Both states I hunt in.
I also will bow hunt all season, as I really like it more

I will with my 7.62 can and my .300 BLK, or .308,or 6.5 Grendel. And IF my stamp makes it in Sept. a 9" SBR in .300 BLK. Piggies get closer I have one for my 10 mm Glock.

for me hunting with a suppressor would be like hunting with a rifle without a smell after being fired. Part of the experience of hunting.

I am using one of these for dove on Saturday. Nice hair, Turkey Hunter. What type of conditioner do you use?

Once I heard and then shot a suppressed rifle for the first time I knew I would not be going back. There is no advantage or good reason to hunt without a suppressor. There are multiple reasons to use one. Pretty simple to me.

I dont know that I would buy one specifically for deer hunting unless I was a guide. I imagine it would be great for guides so they can talk people through shots without have to shout through earplugs/muffs to the hunter.
I'm still contemplating a big bore can but it would probably be used for deer 5% of the time. But would be nice to have my hearing 40 years from now. I already have slight hearing loss in my left ear which I'm fairly certain is from firing a right handed gun too many times without ear protection.

I guess I have the opinion of if you can can then can. For those who cant/wont can keep hunting uncanned. I guess it all really boils down to what you want (I think the whys are just legitament or dreamt up justifications). The trueth is I think they are cool and useful just like a winch on my jeep would be, but I cant justify the cost for either one right now so I will be uncanned and possibly stuck at the lease this year. Also, since I have drank to many canned adult beverages I cant get my can in to my camo. Since I cant justify new camo I will try hunting in blue jeans and see if there is trueth to the rumors that it can be done. I am sure with out a can on my gun and in blue jeans I will be unsuccessful this year. But, since I will be deaf from shooting unsuppressed I wont hear you laughing at me about my lack of success while I am digging out of a mud hole.
