I don't have a problem with anyone hunting suppressed, and it's probably the same as why would you wear camo and sit in a box blind? The simple answer is because you can!
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I plan on putting my trust to work for me. like others I am one to cut down on the noise pollution for others near me hunting or shooting. I have already lost most my hearing and expect to have new ears for christmas with my bonus

I don't want to be inflammatory and certainly have no problem with suppressors, but i only shoot at most 3 times over the course of a season. I think my ears get a lot more damage through ordinary daily living than those 3 shots from my .270. Now at the range I do wear ear protection.

You don't hear it so much in the heat of the moment but your ears still take a beating. I do a lot of off season hog shooting.

Well I'll be 70 this Dec. I have hunted most of my life and my hearing is just fine. If you want to spend your money on a suppressor more power to you. I don't see the need either.

To my mind though, hearing clearly is not as vital when hunting hogs as when hunting deer. At least on the property I hunt. The OP was in regards to deer hunting with a suppressor so that is what I addressed.

What in the world did people use before suppressors to protect their hearing?
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

What in the world did people use before suppressors to protect their hearing? Truth is,the "hearing protection" thing was/is just the party line BS so the ones who like them can have their James Bond toys. Not that I care-it's just that bores me...

They are nice to have and the benefits far outweigh any negat...in fact, can any of the haters come up with a single negative aspect that holds any water?

I love my can for my 223. Should have the 308 can by December. I have probably shot over 500 rounds in the last 6 months. I will deer hunt with and without the can. Just depends on what I'm doing. It sure is nice to have the "choice"
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

Dang im sorry everyone, but i gotta say it. Its pretty sad that some people on this forum get so offended and butt sore just from someone else offering their opinion. I like all the different opinions and different points of views. Its good learning and thats what this forum is about. To learn and listen to each other, not bash each other on what we believe in

I've killed a lot of animals without a suppressor. I can still hear fine.
If y'all want to take the "tactical " approach to hunting that's fine.
But I don't see any benifit or need.
I think the whole tactical thing, shooting game with specialized AR's and stuff has gotten way outta hand.
The number of guys I've seen show up with bull barrel tactical .308's, AR's and the like is rediculous. Especially since most live in the city and can't shoot worth a piss. Damn sure can't shoot to the capabilities of the rifle.
If your a sniper for the army, fine. If not, stop faking it like you are one
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

If I had the money right now I would get one for my 300 win. mag, it would definitely be something new. Is a oppressor needed? No. But then again neither is a feeder. So to each his own. Good luck to all

I find it funny that in our country where most of us can own guns freely we have to jump through so many hoops to own a suppressor; in some of the most fire arm restrictive countries in the world there is NO paperwork needed for a suppressor...its considered part of the gun, just like a cars muffler.
Now having said that I dont think I will be getting or hunting with one just because of the hassel.
To each their own and I have enough buddies with cans that I am sure I will be able to use one of theirs to try out while hunting and I'll post on my thoughts afterward....
However I will agree that the Tacticool crowd is PAST old; when I guide hunts I know its going to be a long weekend when a guy pulls out an AR with a 30rnd clip and 20x scope.

I also learned that because someone lives in the city, that they cannot shoot "worth a piss". Awesome!

Do the city folk you seen shoot a bolt gun better? Or is it the image of a semiauto rifle you don't like? I doubly most anyone can't shoot their rifle to its ability whether it's a city boy or country boy

Besides, it's the shooter and not the gun. Here is a 5 shot group that my 11 year old daughter shot with those tactical sniper AR rifles. She had only shot a rifle bigger than a pellet gun twice before she shot this at 100 yards. And yes it was suppressed and she won't even touch the 10/22 I guess would feel better if she had shot it using my Ruger m77.....not.

I wouldnt know what to think; as it turns out the guys who tote around a AR with flash light, laser, drop grip, milldot 20x scope with adjustment knobs ....seem to be having to haul so much stuff around they rarely carry cash- let alone hand any of it to me. Not bashing suppressors or even AR's which I enjoy shooting; my point is that owning the gear doesnt make up for practice. I though about getting a .308 can just for shooting doe but the mood passed. I will go on the record as saying that given the choice between guideing a client with a .308 with a can and guiding one with a .300mag with a muzzle brake..... I'll take the suppressor EVERY time.
