I generally stalk hunt hogs in the area during the day. They bed down and I usually get within pistol distance from them before they spook. For deer, I generally just sit in a stand and watch the feeder in between naps.

Still hunting is the funnest way to hunt imo. My wife and daughter both prefer it also. Got to be very careful on the wind, I like a pretty windy day. Seems like it helps with my movement and any sounds I make as well. Also better when its a little wet too.

When the terrain permits. Most of my spots are so thick you cant walk them. Still love the stalk tho.

We have only killed 1 deer ever out of a stand, all of our hunts are spot and stalk. My 16 year old son has 5 deer over 140" and has ever fired a round from a stand. Get out and go get em, if you blow it, you'll learn a lesson for next time.

Only when I'm the only one out there. I don't want to disturb any body else. I do it some in the off season just to see how close I can get to them. Once I got within 25yrds of 3 does in the open country near Coleman. Stay down wind and use small bushes and cacti for cover. Time is your friend.

I live to sneak around the woods looking for either deer or hogs. Sometimes I just take pics of the unsuspecting critters...most of the time I'll blast the hogs and scare the heck out of the deer in the off season.

Still Hunting is the only way to hunt. I love to still hunt in sorghum fields with my bow or muzzle loader. Try a heads up decoy for a close up encounter with a big deer.

I do a lot of spot and stalk, only wish we had more land. Blind hunting can bore me sometimes.

Spot and stalk is my favorite way to hunt.
It bores me to death to set shivering in a blind. For a while my best friend and I practiced spotting and stalking with muzzleloaders on deer. Once we got good at that we started doing it with bow and arrow just to see if we could. Deer are really hard to get close enough to with a bow so we started doing it with bare feet so we could feel every twig under our feet and wouldn't break them. We switched to homemade flexible moccasins once we got tired of pulling cactus needles out of our feet.
We got pretty good at that too. The skills we learned with using wind, shadows, and terrain to cover our approach served us well on our later elk hunts. We also did a lot of varmint hunting and I once sneaked up on a coyote so close I could have reached out and grabbed him by the tail.
Now, we do all of our hunting out of the blind because we feel like we get to enjoy ourselves better, see more animals, and learn more. The only time I ever sit in a blind anymore is when I am guiding other hunters or taking kids hunting for the first time. .
