I've looking hard at this one as a possible addition to my CCW herd -- any feedback?

Very solid gun. More of a vertical grip like a 1911 than a glock.

Details! Any issues with any particular ammo? Early reviews indicate it digests just about everything.

Mine has digested everything I fed it. I did runinto some feeding issues after about 500 rounds in one range session without any cleaning. Cleaned it and she is running like clockwork since.

I have never seen any problems with them eating ammo or anything. Several of my fellow Officers carry them

get extra mags at time of purchase. they're not behind every tree like glock mags are.
no malfunctions. no gripes. get one with big enough hole on business end. best auto i have at the moment.

I haven't yet found any reports on ammo performance (expansion)out of the short barrel. Any info out there?
I'm partial to Fed HST in SD ammo in other calibers. All I have on hand in .45 at the moment is Rem Golden Saber, but I'm moving away from that due to jacket separation issue in the unbonded stuff.

I have an XD and a Glock and if I was in a fight I would grab my XD first. Love the feel of it better than my Glock. I am wanting one of those XDS.45's.

Like every one else has said I have experienced zero issues with the XD. I have one, two of my buddies each have one, in fact we bought them all at the same time. Have put at least 2000 rounds through each of them and never had any issues. I changed my sights out to Night Sights and even purchased a threaded barrel to use with a can, the XD is one of my favorite firearms. I do not CC with it, that stays reserved for my 1911, but I am confident enough in the XD and because of mag capacity it is the first gun I reach for in home defense. I don't think that you can go wrong with an XD. The price is really low for the quality of firearm that you get.

I'm not usually an early adapter, but I'm thinking I want one, too... and my wallet's about to get a bit lighter as soon as I get a phone call telling me the next shipment has arrived. Current carry collection includes a S&W 640-2, a Kahr MK-9 Elite, a CM-9 and an LCP. I still feel somewhat undergunned. There's something comforting about that big hole at the end of the barrel, but I also need it to be ultra concealable. I'm thinking Springfield may have hit the mark with this one.

Good feedback... the first gun I reach for in home defense is an H&K P2000, followed by a 12 gauge, if there's time. Which night sights did you get?

I bought some Meprolight sights since I have them on my Kimber and love them. My gunsmith that changed them said that they were a PITA, but that is why I paid him to change them...LOL!! Hopefully he is not reading this...I can say that you will not be disappointed with the XD, I hear you with the 12 gauge also, I grab the 12 gauge first and tuck the XD...

I have owned two XD's. I still have one and wish I wouldn't have sold the other one. The one I have now was bought new in 2005. It has several thousand rounds through it - was used for IDPA matches - and has never missed a beat after the initial break in.

The XDs is brand new this year. Getting some rave reviews for .45 power in a very small but manageable package...

I actually shot a XD-S this weekend and it is bad! I want one so bad now, it was a tackdriver and super fast to get on target with that bright red front site. It was just as accurate as my USP was.

How was the recoil? I would think that a small light weight gun would have some recoil issues with the .45 round. Please tell me it didn't cause I want one for my CC weapon.
