Just as long as the animal is shot on land that you have permission to hunt.

Good call on shotguns. So, this is a hunting contest, not strictly a calling contest. Targets of opportunity and not just those called in are fair game?

Yeah, the State of TX kinda frowns on hunting on their lease. Apparently, they don't think a hunting license is an offshoot of a driver's license.

And, yes, I'm just kidding. I just wanted to make sure about the circumstances in which they were bagged.

We are out and with the price of gas so will a lot of the West Texas teams. The price to play $350 with less than a 50% payout will keep other teams at home. JMHO

Well let me ask you this..Lets say you mail in entry you go out and kill 10 yotes and win the 10,000 your telling me that is not a good investment??? $175 per person to split 10k. I guess that does'nt make sense to me.There will be alot of other prizes given out as well..I have Thirty Two teams entered. We shuld not have a problem getting the rest of the spots filled.

If you can mail in an entry and you think 10 yotes will win you better think again. I know guys out west of here that shouldn't have any problems with 15 and still have time to drive to check in. Good LUCK

The money sounds awesome but I think everbody serious in the varmint world has packed up for the year. Plus you are taken a chance at 100 degree days, extra snakes, 3' tall wheat, our gas at the cheap place is 3.40, and a $350 entry can almost buy you two tickets to a white beach in Mexico. Please keep us updated

Let me get this straight
$350 a team,100 teams = $35.000
Pay outs
1st = $10.000
2nd = $2.000
Big male dog = $500
Big female dog = $500
Smallest dog = $350
Bigest cat = $500

Ok if my math is right thats a pay out of
$13.850
That leaves in money a total of
$21.150
Now assuming your going to have POLYGRAPH test for winners
(WHICH was not Mentioned) Cost $500
Now for the Advertising
News paper (depending on size) $500
Radio $1.000
As mentioned Door prizs benefit of doubt $1000

As you said WHERE can you Pay $350 for chance at
$10.000
But then again where can you make a PROFIT of
$19.150
To give a person/team a chance at winning
$10.000
Now If this hunt was Held in say Jan/Feb/Mar,
And had 100% PAY OUTS
Like 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th So on
And side pots like Big Dog/Cat Pay outs
I see you not having a problem of geting way over 100 Hunters
Plus it Hurts
This frist time any one has Heard of this Bowie Hunt
And its geting held real late in the season for holding these kinda hunts

IMO, Mays to late to hold this kinda hunt with them having young

The way I see it is that if your not a local, your not going to win this .

My reason is.....If i was to drive in from the panhandle to sign in on the day of the contest. But i don't know anyone from near or around Bowie that would let me pluck some yotes off their land. So that mean i have to drive back to where i came from and hunt my arse off, hell i'm already 3 hours behind on hunting. So, then i hunt my tail off all night and kill 25 yotes. So being 3 hrs away i have to haul back to Bowie for check in. So now i'm out a total of 6-7 hrs of the contest and heading back to Bowie not even knowing if i'm going to win. So say i lose and win nothing so now i have to head back 3 hrs to the panhandle and spend my whole weekend and gas driving to Bowie for a freakin hotdog and some chips minus the 350 for entry.

Out of towners don't have prayer in this contest. GET MY DRIFT?

As much as you want this to be successful, something just doesn't seem right. It's not going to work like a fishing tourney. But that's me, maybe i'm wrong, but i'll save alot of money and stay home and eat my popcorn.

Hey Cory, I am glad to see someone with such enthusiasm about the sport. I am sorry that everyone has such a negative opinion about the hunt. I agree it is late in the year, but that wont stop alot of teams. I wish you the best of luck. Jeff
