i got a kick out of this. went to an academy to get my supercombo and duck stamp. im active duty military so i get my license for free. so the guy starts getting the info and says ok i need to see your orders. i said for what? he said to get your free license, you have to have orders to prove residency. so after showing my military id, texas drivers license, last years hunting license, hunters ed card i took in school, etc.... the guy says sorry. so then i went to wal mart across the road and was in and out in 10 minutes license and duck stamp in hand. thanks academy for supporting your military. The guy at Academy was just doing his job... I'm a Texas resident in active military, what license is available to me for hunting and/or fishing? Item 510, Texas Resident Active Duty Military "Super Combo" Hunting and All-Water Fishing Package is available at no cost to Texas residents on active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Reserves, or National or State Guard. Proof of residency for this license is: military service record(s) indicating that the person's home of record is in Texas or that the person's duty station for the six months immediately prior to the time of application is in Texas.

You mean like a Texas drivers license that they scan that shows you home address that is on the same license as last years that was from the same academy? Come on man you really carry around a set of orders? I don't think anyone does.
OMG, this is the best slumber party ever!

I hear ya, I've never asked for orders when printing a license, but if you go by what TP&W wants you have to bring a copy of your orders.

Wow. My brothers have never had a problem. They just had to show military ID and drivers license. Guy may have been following the rules but is a prick in my book. Thank god for old Sam Walton.
