Some guy's from the Texas Hunting Forum & Texas Gun Dog Club are putting together a trip to Kansas again this year, anyone thats been thinking about going up to Kansas, but don't want to go alone, here is a great bunch of guy's you can go with, we had alot of fun last year, the drought had the bird population down a bit but the early reports for this next season, look better than last year. Here is a link to the TGDC thread.

I am interested. Give me the details.

Last year I went to Hugoton and we saw 6 cocks in 6 hours. That was opening weekend.

What part of Kansas and when?

The link that CC posted has all the details, feel free to pm me with any questions. Check out the info asap because the hotel we're staying at is booking up fast! I think between all the Texas Gun Dog Club members that are going and some other pheasant hunters the bottom floor is almost booked. And it ain't fun haulin all that gear up a flight or 2 of stairs!

For those of you that aren't familiar with this I'll elaborate a little more, you and whoever else you want to bring or ride with drive up and we all stay in the same hotel and you hunt with who want to, where you want to, and how you want to. We all basically divide up during the day and do our own thing then meet for dinner at the local steakhouse or cafe and we'll see each other at breakfast at the hotel. We don't all hunt together or anything like that. Last year I think we had around 14, we had a great time and a lot of guys have been wanting to do this again. Like I said the hotel is filling up fast, not just with our guys but a lot of other hunters from all over. If you have any questions send me a pm and make sure to check out the link for all te details!

Tuesday November 13th-Sunday 18th. Some will leave earlier some will leave later. Basically leave when you'd like and come home when you'd like.

sounds like fun, but Kansas is in a severe drought. I would go to SD.

Kansas, just like most states, is in a drought. But last year their drought was a lot worse and we found a lot of birds. Sure, SD would be ideal but it's double the drive which means almost double the money. I've got my sights set on SD for next October for sure though!

Hopefully I get pulled over by the police less than last year.

I'm going to be chasing whitetails, turkeys and pheasant that week in Nebraska. But I may try to meet up with you guys one day if I am near any of you. Shoot, last year we were all over the NW corner of that state.

Also, if the birds are good, I may head up to Kansas later on in the season.

Probably not, I'm changing jobs and my vacation time will be premium. My hunting budget it tight this year, between my Texas Lease and my Elk Hunting Trip in September my wife is ready to neuter me! If the stars align correctly, I might be able to pull it off, just can't commit now.

I have to say I am giving every one of you a big thumbs up for expanding your horizons. Especially if you go back in jan.

My coworkers all born and raised in Houston area. Every one of them complains when the weather gets down in the 60s and below. But when it's 95 out with 90 percent humidity not a blip. Just sayin

It was a lot of fun last year. Actually my first ever Pheasant hunt and I love it. I am already booked for this one and one more in Olton, TX. in December. I met some good dudes from the TGDC forum.

Blanked- you should definitely try and make it if you can! It's a lot of fun. Bird numbers were down last year but we still saw plenty of birds. Pheasant are a very difficult gamebird to hunt but easily one of the most addicting. First morning I ever pheasant hunted was in KS in January of 2011. It's was -6* outside! But we got a rooster in the bag pretty early and it seemed to warm us up pretty good!
