Problem is, as soon as the water goes in it is shipped off. Heard last Spring that Angelo only has about 18 months of water left. I remember seeing Ivie full only about five years ago.. The completely dry lakes around San Angelo don't help the cause much. Not to mention all the other towns pulling water. Just nothing we can do about it.

I know the bigger part to the right still has water, just unbelievable how quick it has gone down. I know for sure that area right around there has gotten 25 plus inches of rain this year already, and it looks worse than the past 2 years where we had 18 inches of rain total... Yes, combined.

Those towns paid for the construction of the lake, they built it so they could use the water. Recreational use is a secondary use.

Don't forget to mention Midland/Odessa also pulls from Ivie and they just started watering restrictions a few months ago. Up until then, I believe people could water all day every day.

I have heard that Ballinger will no longer be able to use Ivie at the end of this month. Guess they will have to start hauling in water to the water treatment facility.

Come on hurricanes!!!

Sad to see but looking at all that vegetation that has grown up: It will be unbelievable fishing a year or 2 after it fills up.

You probably need to keep that "Under your hat", some guy's at Whitney did that and got into some serious trouble.

Thats because they went into a cave and were bringing up bones, spears and pottery, etc. i think arrowheads out in the open would be ok

Midland/Odessa have been under strict water restrictions since the middle of last year. Not in the last couple of months.

It is not even just about Lake Ivie. There were a total of three lakes in the CRMWD that provided water to the West Texas area. Lake JB Thomas, Lake Spence, and Lake Ivie. Lake Thomas and Lake Spence have already gone dry. So the picture is even sadder than what it appears.
