Lol has every thing to do with the emporer in your mind. What's the differance in hunting the king ranch then a native herd hf... 99% of the places out their your probably going to shoot a bigger deer on the king then the hf. In face probably a lot easier to do.... the difference in pressure. Temple inland boggy slough is another great example up until recently 21k under fence...but not near the top end deer or success percentage of the King.

But you know that... The issue is both require $$$ to hunt....and there lies the issue

Exceptions that prove the rule Bobo. $$$ don't have squat to do with it. I know alot of guys who hunt and are very skilled that don't have a pot to piss in. Some kill some great bucks. But the smallest basket rack they kill is more impressive to those that know what hunting is than the biggest buck ever killed in a pen.

Lol see this is where we highly differ... And its not an exception..because it is about money

Take Amos and his ranch... His neighbors fenced him in. A 4k pen?? I think not..there are several bucks they have only seen a handful of times and have been trying to kill and they are still alive or dead from old age... He has the second largest native genetics wt that has been shot in the state of Texas... Yet he spends more time in the stand then 99.9% of the people on this forum. In your mind its fenced and own statements you don't respect the animal or his accomplishments... But yet again he puts more time in the stand then all of us combined including you friend with the basket racked buck. In reality you still probably wouldn't respect even if it was LF because of what it costs to hunt that area. You make it sound like whitetails are like elk and migrate 100's of miles a year.

I have more respect of the hunting ability for a guy that watches a deer for 6 years before he decides to pull the trigger, and the story of the work he put into his place then a guy that is sitting in a tree on public land and shoots first deer that walks by and it turns out to be a booner.

I don't care what anyone shoots. I don't judge their "hunting ability" by the deer they shoot...I gauge it via the story behind the deer. My biggest pet peeve is the photo section is donkey comments on any deer small or big. Whom ever posted WAS proud of it before some one slammed them. You degrading someone tall fence deer is no different then someone talking smack about someone shooting a small racked young buck

What exactly is a cull buck on a 30 acre LF tract?

Bobo let's just say I find it highly ironic that you say you value the story behind each buck, yet support HF shooting-where the vast majority of the "stories" involve livestock management and hyped-up descriptions trying to turn target practice into a real hunt.

In short, the worst free-range "story" is better than ANY HF "story".

I can tell you've got me pigeonholed as some poor East TX wannabe who is jealous of all the big bucks the rich boys kill. It's really none of your business what my personal story is-but I would venture to say it might surprise you.

I know your not a poor boy... And for sure not even an average Joe ...nor do I care about your personal story smile

What I care about is your written negative blanket statements of hf deer and hunters

All deer are livestock lf,hf, no fence....doesn't matter you have eliminated their greatest predator- if you don't manage them eventually you will have a massive die off, and the cycle will continue just like cows, horses, goats..etc

Have you ever hunted on a legitimate high fence ranch? Ever even been on one?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

And yes I said story behind the deer not the hunt-

You make it sound like every big buck shot lived in a cave all his life and decided to come out the day he was shot... He didn't get that big most likey with out someone passing on him.

Again deer don't migrate 100 of miles a year.

I have more respect hunt aspect via someone that grew and patterned a big buck on big acreage then someone who...watched one show up on his 40 acres and then shot it.

Well Bobo if you believe all deer are livestock then I can see where HF is not an issue for you. We'll just have to agree to disagree as always I guess.

tt85 never hunted HF but I am VERY familiar with several HF operations. I'm not sure what you mean by "legitimate" HF operations but the ones I know are nowhere close to even a reasonable facsimile of a actual hunting if that's what you mean.

Deer in TX only roam from feeder to feeder. I'm not a fan of fences or high fences. Might as well throw them in a barrel.
