Ah man. I was just trying to get the stress of decision making off your back. You know, tryin to help a brother out.

As far as 6.5s everybody knows I'm a .260 fan. That's my suggestion.

I'm thinking 260 also...or maybe 6.5x47 have reamers and gauges handy for them.

from what I hear... (take it or leave it) I know several people that jumped on the 6.5x47 band wagon.. but after a while switched back to 260 or 260 AI.. I own neither... just what I have been seeing...

Yeah, I really don't see any advantage to the 47. I'm thinking 260. Anyone have a short action??

Just the best all around i guess. 6x47 Lapua seems to do both well....along with most of the 6.5mm loads (which is why i think they're becoming so popular).

Got to pick long or short action

Tough decision , of the short for me it would be the 260 or creedmore

There is no advantage I can see to the 6.5x47, other thanbeing short. The 6.5-284 Norma drives 140gr bullets at the same velosity the 6.5x47 shoots 100gr. 6.5-284, 260, and 6.5 creedmore are about the only chamberings in 6.5 I would consider at the moment. Since I am going to do my next Mauser build in 6.5-284 I am a bit biased though.

I like the .260 for a bolt action and the Creedmoor for the AR10 platform and of course the Grendel for AR 15. In other words I can't decide.

6.5x47L, .260 and 6.5 Creedmore all run within 100fps of each other. The main advantage the 6.5x47L had was brass quality but Lapua has since released 260 brass and all that's left is that the Lapua uses small rifle primers.

I've been down the 284 route already. I wasn't too impressed. That thing was pretty fierce to shoot 50-100 rounds off the bench in a day. Also the barrel life of the 284 is by far the lowest of the 6.5s mentioned.
I will use mine mainly for shooting paper with heavies at long range, so barrel life and blast are going to be a factor for me.
The only thing the Lapua has going for it is the short c.o.l., which would let you still magazine feed the long bullets seated out a good ways, also give you the ability to chase the lands as your barrel gets worn.
I've also had a 6.5cm. I really didn't have any complaints about it, and but sure why I got rid of it bang . I think the creedmoor has the longest predicted barrel life , if shooting mild loads. The 30 degree shoulder should help alot with case stretch and accuracy (in theory).
The 260 has the most case capacity, rreadily available quality brass, or brass can easily be made from any 08 based case, great velocity, good barrel life, tons of load data, and is tried and true. The down side is case stretch...which can be cured by going ackley.

Just my thoughts.....too much coffee this morning grin

I thought the 6.5-284 had the most case capacity?

It does compared to the 3 typical short action 6.5 cartridges which the 6.5-284 Norma is not.
