The 1st centerfire that I hunted deer with with was in 1956, a J P Sauer Luffwaffe drilling, with a bottom barrel chambered in 9.3x74R. My Father brought it back from Germany after WWII. At that time no one around here even knew what that cartridge was. I found a New York ammo dealer who sold me a box for $6.85. It was Norma manufacture not often seen in the states at that time. That was well more than double what a box of.30-06 sold for. In 1958, I worked all summer to save to buy a used Model 70 Winchester in .30-06 with a 4x Weaver. Killed my 1st deer that year. Still have both, but they have been retired a long time.

When our home was robbed back in '81 I lost all my guns including my first deer rifle which was an old WWII sporterize 7.62 Russian with a side mount scope that I bought at a local hardware store in 1973 for about $85 if I remember correctly. Norma was the only manufacturer for ammo. Also lost my SXS shotgun and a 22lr pistol with the 22mag cylinder.

Mine was given to me by my Grandpa. It is a Belgian Browning BAR in 308. He said in world war 11 his BAR1918 worked through things no rifle should. So he bought a Civy BAR when he got out. He gave it to me when I was very young before he died. I still hunt with this gun.

I shot my first deer deer six years ago with my Remington .243 and have killed several deer with it since. It is my go-to rifle and can drive tacks. So yes, I still hunt with it and look forward to many more years hunting with it.

My ole man gave me a Browning BLR .223 for Christmas when I was 6-7 years old. I still have it, and will never let it go.
I am pretty sure I would sell a kidney or rights to my ole lady before this gun ever goes up for sale. Gun means to much to me.
Wife has always wanted some Hard 8

30-30 with open sights. borrowed. I was young and on my first hunt. All the guys at camp laughed and gave me the business because of the gun. I killed first and the biggest for the week. they quit laughing.

Still got it, Rem. 222. Got it in the early '60. I still use it. My son took his first deer with it about 12 years back. If all goes well, grandson will take his first deer with it too.

My first rifle was actually my dad's first rifle that my grandpa bought him when he was 9 yrs old (1966). Its a Rem. 742 Woodmaster .243, and would still rather use it to this day over any of my other guns. I now have a 4 yr old son that will take this rifle when he gets a couple years older. I think there is something really neat about handing things down from generation to generation. I will pass on the history and stories that I charish and hope the he can some day pass it on to his son many years from now.

I don't have mine anymore. Some lowlife SOB stole all my guns in 1981. Had serial #'s on everything, but DPD never found any of them.

I don't even have the same one I bought last week! I'm in a bad habit of buying, shooting, sell or trade, get something else.... Its a viscous cycle.
