I've never been that hungry to eat a rat.....I guess I'll have to go to the hot place and eat boogers.

There aint too many wild animals that taste better than fried squirrel.

You're equating an animal that spends all its time climbing trees and eats seeds and nuts, to a completely different animal that lives in filth, eats said filth, and carries disease?

Sound logic.

I was going to eat one a long time ago...after I shot it I started to clean it and the worst smell that has ever gone thru my nostrils emanated from that nasty thing... trust me I have smelled some pretty stinky stuff before but never anything so vile as an opened up squirrel. Cleaned my knife the best I could and thru the stinky thing back into the woods

Cleaned many a squirrel in my day. It smells similar to any other gutted animal. Doesn't smell any worse than gutting a deer or a hog.

I've also cleaned many hogs, deer, bear and rabbits and none have smelled like that squirrel

Cooked a squirrel on a stick over a fire survivorman style once....I don't recommend it. However, I like the link with all the squirrel recipes. Going to have to give some of those a try.

What about rabbits? Are there particular months you're not supposed to eat them? My yard is FULL of them and I'd like to fry a couple up.

Just like any wild animal, you are generally OK if you cook them right. You can get more diseases from the handling of the creature than from eating it, according to this link.

Fried Squirrel and Squirrel dumplings. I grew up on that stuff. My Dad loved to Squirrel hunt so we ate a lot of them when I was a kid. Rabbits too.

There is not a smell in the world worse than pig guts. I do mean nothing. A gut shot deer aint got nothing on a hog that was not gut shot. Squirrel guts is nothing compared to the above. I like me some "Limb Chickens" myself. Great in Gumbo, fried, or with Dumplings.

love eating squirrel. BBQ, fried, crock pot, all great ways to cook them.
I compare them to rabbits as far as taste.
