I don't know if it's still there but there used to be a tour boat in Corpus Christi that would give a tour of the harbor and bay area there in Corpus Christi bay. I sure as hell didn't get on it intending too but when I got off that boat the one and only time I went on it, I was engaged. Twenty-three years later we are still together so it must of worked out ok. Earl

My son brought his future wife to the ranch some years ago. He got up early the next morning, started up the feed truck and headed to the pasture. My thought to my now daughter-in-law was that she better get used to it if she was going to hang out with my hunting son. Didn't say anything, just held my tongue and went to breakfast. Mid-morning he returned with no comment about where he had been or what he had done. Fast forward to late that evening. He loaded the bride-to-be in the feed truck and took her a couple of miles back into the ranch where he had written "Will you marry me ?" with rocks that he had placed on the side of a slope. For a month before I proposed to my wife, I talked up this tree that grew on our ranch. Told her of how this rock was picked up by the tree as it grew and was still in the fork. Made it sound as if this was the prettiest place on the ranch. After many excusses why I couldn't take her there to show it to her, we finally took the trip out there for a "picnic". I had placed the engagement ring in the fork of this old misquite tree and sent her over to check it out. When she found the "rock" she turned around to find me on one knee and said yes. That's been nineteen years ago since she found the pebble in the tree.

just as a follow up, since she doesnt read this forum.. we went to travaasa and it was pretty dang nice, good for couples. no kids allowed anyhow. unfortunately they have an infinity pool which lies above lake travis (or what's left of it) with a little man who comes around delivering margaritas. ...more about that in a bit. after a long day, she went to get her spa massage and i hauled butt up to the local HEB for flowers, chocolates and champagne and proposed on the balcony. that was nice.. then i started drinking champagne.. most of it actually. went to the oasis for dinner, had another margarita.. then i thought "now is a good time to talk about finances and how she should stop paying rent when she basically lives with me already". yeah... it wasn't a good time to discuss that. kinda flubbed that one. oh well.. small little fight, which i lost, alls good now. anyhow, travaasa, not bad.

Just find a woman you don't like, buy her a house, and walk off. Cheaper and you will be happier.
